Yeah but the advice to sell it and lose a massive amount of money then lose even more buying a new car which will have the same issues is silly and not remotely feasible when the goal is preserving money. I'm just looking for ways to prevent it being hit as often as it is, it was never an issue until this last year/2. And I post a bit but usually get no responses. My goal paint wise with this car is to get the paint at least done with repainting from damage and then maybe doing the $900 Facebook ads 3-5 year ceramic and paint correction. Is it worth it I'm not sure as I've never had it done but it will at least protect it from birds etc
Hello; You do not have to sell the car such is for sure. However, expecting to keep a car pristine when it is a daily driver and parked on the street is unrealistic. For reasons beyond your control the parking available is hard on the car. None of the suggestions, so far, will fix that. Plus, you have gotten plenty of responses.
You have to have a way to work. To shop for goods at stores. To do everyday things. It is you only choice for such. It will get scratched, door dings and sideswiped every now and then. I suggested living with the cosmetic until you have a better solution.

Don't know how the rules work for cones. Could you put the cone on your trunk?

Anyway, I'm out of this convo. Options have been given and always a reason not to use them.

If you "easily" have $1.5-2K available to pay rent, and you currently are not paying rent, that means you're saving at least that much every month, right? Presumably more considering all the utilities you would have to pay as well... If you stash that away in a brokerage account, maybe sticking half of it in a bond fund, and half in some S&P 500 ETF, maybe some other assets... you'd be enjoying some massive compounding returns compared to most of your peers your age. Money wouldn't be a problem for long.

Am I being a little bit snarky, and/or thinking a lil outside the box and ignoring your request to talk only about your car? Yes, because you're ignoring all of our advice. You might be better off having this conversation with ChatGPT or Gemini at this point if you haven't already tried that...

I will say this, and also bow out. The Dashcam I suggest will not stop someone from hitting your park car, but will take a CLEAR PIC and TIMESTAMP live when it happened. The system looks for the PLATE, and you can clearly see it. With that information, you can go to your cop neighbor and have a leaving the scene opened. Then you can get that person's information and have them fix your vehicle.

Or you can keep doing what you are doing. Back to the 7g forums for me.

There has to be something I can do. Again, for the last 20+ years not a single vehicle has been damaged in that parking spot last year or so 5 times. Makes no sense. Also some of this is disabling damage aka vehicle not safe or not driveable

While that might work I have unique things going on that occupy alot of my money and time. That's why I said to the other guy assuming everything, you don't know my exact situation or my medical history. Also there were a handful of options given, none of which offer any valid usefulness. I'm looking for someone creative to help me find some of the box kinda of idea instead of "sell the car" "magically find a load of cash" "commit crimes to prevent damage" etc. Also as shown Gemini and chat gpt are not reliable or accurate for anything at all relating to legality of things.

That's ideal. The lastest one I got nothing not even a plate or vehicle model. That would have at least helped a good bit. I appreciate the advice and have fun over at those 7g peeps

You could try two of these. Put one on the roof and have the other on standby to swap it out, so you can recharge the other.

Wonder if I can make a stand or something so it doesn't sit on the paint, actually drivers side window facing forward or windshield could work. Thinking drivers side so coming down the street it's easier to see the side of the car and then maybe rear window? Wonder if there's a solar powered option for when the car sits for a days or weeks

Adios. Kindly try not assuming you know everything about everything when trying to nitpick someone's life choices. I asked about protecting a car, you tried to tell me how to live my life and spend my money and if your advice was followed it would result in long term possibly lifetime debt. I'm not going to do something that silly. Stick with the post next time please! I have been nothing but respectful and you are just here to speak hate and disrespect while having 0 facts about the matter. The current options are not LEGAL or feasible. I cannot magically make money appear, I cannot magically change the laws. I have to abide by the rules and requirements set forth for my situation.

Please do not continue to harass me on this thread, I do not wish to hear and further from you about how I should ruin my life

@Outlaw you said you could afford to pay rent in the amount of $1000-$2000 per month. Why take 2 months rent money and spend $2000-$4000 on a cheap car and put the Mustang in storage?

Do you have any friends, who live in a nice apartment complex with garages that can maybe rent a garage for you? I did that for a year in a new complex @ $125 per month, while building a house. Not sure what rates are at a storage facility, but that may even be cheaper/more convenient.

On days when you want to drive the Mustang, leave a bit early and switch cars, enjoy the drive in to work and repeat the process on the way home. How does that sound to you?
Unfortunately no. Garages are the apartment complexes around here are rare. Trhs storage facilities are also wildly expensive for vehicles indoor storage, they offer outdoor parking lot storage which is better than nothing but it's still open and waiting for someone who can't drive their rv camper to park it in the storage spots and hit it. I think my best option now is additional cameras to atleast catch hit and run vehicle descriptions and possibly plates

I think that one has suction cups, but perhaps you can sit it on the dash or rear package tray area. Battery life seems very good at 30 hours between charges. It’s cheap enough to give it a try.

Everyone usually pays attention to flashing lights.

Paired with a camera that's really all I can do. Nothing is going to stop a drunk or distracted driver at the end of the day. Thank you for actually providing ideas. I really appreciate the help, I think I have a plan now to at least maximize the safety of the vehicle.

You’re welcome. Good luck and let us know if the situation improves.
