I said this early on in this thread. It’s hard to compare a GT350/R/M1 HP to a GT500/CFTP. A completely different philosophy went into the GT500 versus those cars. I wouldn’t say it’s an upgrade so much as a different experience. If you truly want an upgrade to all three of those cars, you’d daily an automatic 2008 Yaris Hatchback with 59,000 miles like me, and then you’d really have a drivers car!

Ah, a white ‘12. I passed up an identical 302 back in March 2012 when the ‘13 refresh was about to hit the streets. Iirc Msrp was $42,xxx and the dealer was offering it for $39,950 since they had it for a few months. Almost did it but then I found a new race red ‘12 GT/CS mt82 with hid lights that msrp at $38,400 that a dealer discounted to $30,400 with Ford rebate included.

Since it had the Boss LS wing and Boss bumpers/diffuser from the factory I just added the Boss front splitter and shift knob and Alcantara bits. Then, front Brembo caliper kit, FRP tune, GT500 axle back, FRP C springs and Koni Yellows with 275 square Pilot Super Sports. Traded it in 3 years later with 25k miles on my 8900 mile CPO ‘14 SS Sedan and dealer gave me $29,500 after I negotiated the SS down from $39,500 to $38K.

Nice looking CS and like the idea of the Pilot Super Sports with a square set up and some very cool modifications to go with that!

My PW 2012 Boss 302 was chassis "PP0002" and it was the first 4-seat Pilot Production example built for the 2012 MY and was built back in October 2010 at the FRAP.

Regularly shifted that terrific car at the 7,500 RPM redline with the engine being hand built in July 2010 in Windsor, Ontario.

Yes this, times eleventy!

Now back on topic: The GT500 is an upgrade to the Mach 1 just like it is to the GT350
…not according to the poll, please see above for the reason(s) 😉👍🏼

So far the poll shows 64 people have never driven a GT500 and GT350 back to back .....
350R and 500CFTP back to back is quite an experience. Highly recommend if you can

I'm still holding out on voting, haven't driven either car so makes it hard to say. Anybody have both cars so I can take a spin (see what I did there) and find out?

Copium right there because half of us dream about a GT350 or similar type of car.

Automatics get boring after a while no matter how fast.

I like to disassemble things.

This is 100% fact. I mean, just look at how many GTD owners got bored while behind the wheel, fell asleep, and died in a fiery crash. Makes you wonder how Dirk was able to stay awake when driving that sleep machine at the Ring.

"Automatics." Lol.

You are a tougher man than I. I couldn't drive that Yaris daily.

Whichever car I buy, it has to be a daily driver. I'm not going to spend $50K or more on something I don't use all the time.

The Tremec TR-9070 7-Speed DCT that comes standard in the 3rd Gen Mustang Shelby GT500 models is neither an automatic transmission nor is it a manual transmission, but it does operate as an automatic transmission with 2 separate gearboxes inside one casing unit.

When driving the most recent generation of the Mustang Shelby GT500 there is no question that the DCT is lightning fast but often experienced some clunkiness when downshifting when employing the paddle shifters.

After a fair bit of seat time and despite just how fast the GT500 is, I also came away with a lack of interest, challenge and engagement when compared to any of my GT350R models.

I wonder how the Tremec DCT compares to Porsche's PDK?
Based on my experience after driving various Porsche models, I would consider the PDK a more refined and better transmission especially when it comes to daily driving and in particular smoother downshifts.
