i got a new F150, the dealer owes me a free oil change. I probably won't get it done just because my time is worth more than the 3 hours that is gonna take me. i'd rather spend the 40 bucks and do it myself and know its done right.

Get a dash cam with battery backup. Even if the tech unplugs it, it will still record. Mine saved me from a malicious Firestone tech when that moron unplugged it then promptly redline no lift shifted my car around the block.
What kind of camera do you have (and/or) recommend)?

All cameras that I've seen have a battery backup but is only good for a limited time I would suggest when you get one hard wire it, that doesn't stop them from turning it off or taking the memory card out just make sure the hard wire has low voltage shutoff as my F150 kills the battery after a week or so of none use of the truck. If your concerned about killing your battery you can put a switch on the power hard wire and only use it when you take your vehicle in for service but that will negate your parking recording,

If I feel like I need to do it, I reset my trip odometer, accelerometer, fuel mpg and videotape myself doing it in front of the dealer. You should be able to tell if there was suspicious activity with those readings.

I let the shop owner take my car to lunch or whatnot when they have it. Though, he tossed me his keys to take his truck to work when they have my car. I have a habit of always resetting the accelerometer after pulls so it's always low g's when given to them. He always makes a pull or two, but I don't care as that is what I bought it for. LOL

My homegrown tech knows that if he breaks it, he fixes it.

My mechanic pounds on my car when I take it in. Wrenches get thrown, bad words get said, he usually ends up pissed off because the YT video he watched made the modifications/repairs look so much easier. So then he takes it out and drives in anger, usually at the track. Tires come back with way less tread, usually rubber all over the front end, and pea sized rocks packed into every known crevice.

But also my mechanic is me. So.🤷‍♂️
