Perhaps you need to de-bug your car alarm system literally.

Short version: A bug that's large enough can set off the internal alarm in a '20 G550. I found that out late last night and early this morning, after removing said bug from the car and asking Google AI if that had happened before. Yes, it has. And with that, you have my first contribution to our merry gang of 'stangers. Hiya guys! (Stephen, in Alamo Heights, TX)

What sensor of the alarm does a bug activate? S550 does not have a passive infrared PIR motion sensor.

Is it not in the roof console near the lights? I may sure they are there in my UK spec GT as it also gives the full (incl. PIR) or part (doors) alarm option every time the car is switched off

There has to be something on the inside because reaching in the car with the windows down will set off the alarm.

I've set mine off several times just walking beside it. (windows were down.)
