21 gt, 6spd, 71k miles. Driving home last week, car stumbled at 75mph. I've run cars out of gas before, I had half a tank, but knew it was fuel, no check engine light. Luckily there was an exit within site, got off, shut it off, restarted, tried to go but she died, crank no start. Towed to dealer, I have extended warranty. There's an open recall for the low pressure fuel pump but the dealer says Ford won't send parts so they have fix under my warranty and I have to cover the deductible. So now I'm out the tow and the deductible. Just a warning in case anyone else thinks the recall will cover their fuel pump.

Is a recall notice that they will do something at some point. All the current fuel pumps are the same as what's in your car. I have a 22 and got the notice a year ago. Car was just at Ford and told there's nothing I can do. The only way they will replace it is if there is a failure. I'm concerned since I'm running a BAP. Plus the fuel pumps were on a national backorder as of few weeks ago.

It cost me $420+ so far. I could have ordered a better aftermarket dw400 and done it myself for half the price.

By law, they have to notify owners of vehicles at the time the issue is identified, not at the time of the repair being available. They will have to develop a remedy that fixes the initial issue that was identified. I do not know of the timeframe requirements for that. Replacing the fuel pump with the same recall affected part will not remedy the recall and it will remain open on the VIN. This is because you are installing a part that was identified to have a known defect. However, if you have to make a repair out of your own pocket due to the recall affected part, the manufacturer will be able to reimburse you for that once the final remedy is available. The dealer should be able to help you out with this. Keep your receipts.

How Josh Haliburton can still have a job is mind boggling and Billy Choo Choo needs to retire and hand the company over to someone who has a clue how to run a car company. Sorry you had a field failure when Ford hasn't addressed this issue for over a year. I'm not playing the odds with my recalled pump, I'm upgrading now (proactively) with an aftermarket pump in preparation for track days on E85.

I've had fuel pumps fail before, only on Chevy's LoL, and had to drop the tank every time. But older and higher mileage. I'm assuming the motor craft one available at rock auto is the same part they're going to install. Hopefully they fixed the fail point on the replacement pumps. It doesn't look like that bad of a job, you can get it from the top and don't have to drop the tank.

By the recall description it really sounds like the issue they’re recalling is about the venturi nozzle not the electric pump itself.

But yes, you can get a pair of stock pumps from ford performance for $200 and swap one in an hour easily.

Talked to my Ford dealer on Friday and was told "yes, there is an open recall and they are waiting on the part." She said I would receive a call when the part arrived.
