There was a time when I fully agreed with you... And there are still many things I don't like about Porsche. But man... It's crazy to think that this Dark Horse SC might make a 911 S look like a relative performance value. I'll refrain from going that far until the DHSC is in some people's hands, though.
For sure. It’s more of a fun factor for me. Much like the C8, the Porsche’s I’ve driven have just been kind of sterile. I don’t care for the looks of them either. The performance is there no doubt, but that’s not enough for me (not a big track person so I don’t necessarily need the most precise tool in the box).

When I can afford the Porsche :cwl: I'll go with the 911. Until then, I'll stick with my 19 PP2 and be happy happy.

Edmunds video is interesting, that’s the first time I’ve seen the HP listed. Is 810 verified anywhere else?

Also interesting that it’s behind both the Z06 and the GT500, normal different day disclaimers.

Until we know details, that's to be seen
If you are purely talking the $175K vs the $140K version, then probably
(with $35K to spend).

But even the "base" CFTP, the variable traction control will probably
be different over base. Historically, does anyone tune "traction control",
if for no other reason liability?

ABS?, that being retuned for CF brake rotors off base?

Even the wheels. Nice set of USED CF 500 still going for 10-12.
Weren't they upwards of $28K when GT500 first came out?

So aside from my first sentence caveat, I'm sticking with my
"no you can't" . Moneywise for sure and probably not at all.

That is not the DHSC. It is a 24 DH with a blower slapped on..........

Is that how Ford got the name?? LOL!!

Dark Horse. Don’t care for Porsche’s
I have been a fan of the 911 since I was in elementary school. If we are talking about cars today, the 911S on up, dollar for dollar it's a far superior car in every way to anything Ford has to offer under $300K.

And therefore should not be in the same category, However, because they cost the same, then by definition they are now in the same category.
I wouldn't say that at all. A loaded Camry can cost as much as a V8 manual GT and they are not comparable.

The Corvette has gone futuristic with mid engine and really fancy go-fast parts. It is way past what a pony or muscle car ever was.

The Mustang still has the fundamentals it always has had, aside from a manual on the new DHSC.

They haven't changed up the drivetrain like Chevy did. I would argue all day long that a 170k Mustang is still a Mustang, just a loaded to the gills with everything the engineers could think of version of one.

While that may be true, looks and sound are also a factor for me. I don’t like the look of Porsche’s and I equally don’t like the sound. If I was a track rat and only focused on performance, I’d very likely start with Porsche. I really like the look of the Mustang (yes, even S650) and the sounds they make put a big smile on my face. The performance is more than enough for my use. That’s why I answered the way I did. I know there are plenty of folks that will disagree and that’s fine.

Sure, all of that is true - however - those vehicles can be cross shopped because they are in the same price range. In the past, no one was cross shopping a Mustang and Corvette. Not because they were different, but because they were no where near the same price. Now, Ford has overpriced their offering, and therefor better cars can be cross shopped against them. Like you just said, the Corvette offers "futuristic" design traits, and the Mustang does not, but since they cost the same, they are in the same category. The Corvette will destroy any Mustang dollar for dollar. If you buy the Mustang instead, great - but it wasn't for the performance or value

If you bough the loaded Camry instead of the Mustang GT, then you prioritized space and fuel economy over performance, but the price is why you could even make that choice in the first place. The layout, design features, performance, fuel economy don't matter when the price is nowhere near the same. If the price is similar, then you get to choose what attributes are important to you. The Corvette costs the same as a Mustang (depending on trim level and options). Since they are both considered performance cars, why would you choose the one that will lose every comparison (except for trunk space I suppose) for the same money?

I don't believe that for a second.
You can still wear your New Balance sneakers and jean shorts in your Mustang. This way you will feel like you got a good value when purchasing your DHSC. Meanwhile, someone else will have purchased a C8 ZO6 for the same money, and get a better car in every way.
