Meanwhile, since Mr. G was no help, would someone explain how SAE HP is calculated and, what units are used for the 43.83 SAE HP number on the COO above?

The SAE HP number refers to "taxable" hp from what I understand. The formula used to determine it:

BORE² x # of cylinders x 40% = SAE HP or taxable horsepower

IIRC, the bore of the GT500 is 94mm (3.70079"). So you have 13.695846" x 8 x .4 = 43.826 or 43.83 when rounded up.
