No, they're what's referred to as a Non-MIL DTC (MIL = Malfunction Indicator Lamp)

So doing a Base to Sync 3 on my brothers Mustang.

Other the APIM settings.

The only toggle switch that won't work is the hazards and the mode button? Gotta change them in Forscan.

What about the climate control. It will be dual climate control now?
Anything else need to be changed?

The climate control will be automatic but not dual zone. The passenger side temp selector ring (silver dial) won’t change anything. Only the driver side one will.

I'm considering upgrading my GT base 4" thing to the 8" Sync 3. How does Ford deal with this RE: warranty?
Do I have to swap back to 4" every time I need to take it for warranty repairs?
Or will Ford not really care about me having swapped it? Thanks!

Edit: clearly, if Sync 3 itself has issues, I'd swap. But, let's say the backup camera gets screwed up, which seems to be a common problem. Would they honor the warranty if I had Sync 3 installed myself?

Okay, here is what you need to change for a Sync 3 upgrade from base, including some optional stuff.

This is assuming you are keeping the Base ACM.

ACM:

727-01-01 Factory: D800 2800 00, after Sync 3 Swap: 9800 3800 00

BCM:

Fix hazard toggle operation:
BCM 726-29-02 xxxx xxx0

GT350 Only:

Enable exhaust mode toggle on bezel:
IPC 720 06-01 xxxx xxxx xE

Non GT350:

Enable drive mode toggle (part 1)
ABS 760-02-02 xxxx 7x (GT Performance Pack)
ABS 760-02-02 xxxx 3x (GT without Performance Pack)
ABS 760-02-02 xxxx 1x (EcoBoost All, V6)

Enable drive mode toggle (part 2)
IPC 720-06-01 xxxx xxxx x8

OPTIONAL STUFF
APIM:

GT Splash at start:
7D0-02-01 xxxx xDxx xx

Different colors for different menus:
7D0-03-01 xxxx x0x2 xx
(I did this so the audio screen would show up in red instead of blue to better match the base gauges.)

You could also do the GT theme in combo with the GT splash:
7D0-03-01 xxxx x4x0 xx
(I tried the GT theme, didn't really care for it. I'm running the regular theme set to night all the time so the background is black rather than white.)

I made a visual DIY harness diagram to share (attached). This is intended for 2015-2018 base models to sync3.
I would really appreciate review/feedback if anyone has time?

A question, and observation
Question: Could one swap the climate control module from the base model bezel into the sync3/premium bezel? Most OTS sync 3 bezels I have found include seat heater controls which are unused in this case.
Observation: Reviewing the APIM pinout diagrams (1st & 2nd posts) It appears that pin #29 is never re-populated with anything after being moved to position #31. On the sync APIM pinout diagram, it shows that pin 29 on touchscreen enabled APIM's is used for "CTRL MOD - MULTIMEDIA GATEWAY MODULE # AUDIO 2 RIGHT - ". Since that position (29) is now open/unused, the related pins for that function wouldn't really serve a purpose would they? (related pins: 9, 10, 11, 28). They should be able to be disconnected/removed as well correct? I believe that these are used on some media hubs to allow RCA type inputs to be used for external media devices...

I am guessing that pins 9,10,11,28 & 29 on the APIM connector are used for adding outside audio (analog presumably) signals to the audio system???

I did the swap this weekend. Everything works great!
The only issue I have are some non-critical DST's related to left discharge temps, solar sensors & digital audio control module D.

Are there any code changes I can make to remove these?
