Let's refresh first:

First track day was Wild Horse Pass East Track, Chandler, AZ. Outside temps 90+ (NASA)
1.25 miles with 10 turns
- Differential over heating warning light came on, I was coming in after running about 9 laps. Ran 2 more session, warning light did not come on, but I was watching temp gauge now. It was climbing.

Changed tranny and differential fluid to BG 75w - 140.

Second track day was Inde Motorsports Ranch, Wilcox, AZ. Outside temps 80+ (ProAutoSports)
2.6 miles with 18 turns. Raced for 2 days with lots of track time.
- Had no overheating issues

Third track day was Arizona Motorsports Park, Litchfield, AZ. Outside temps, raining and 60-70 degrees (NASA)
2.26 miles with 16 turns. Did 2 sessions probably 15 minutes each
- Had no overheating issues (surprisingly the Cup 2's did very well in the wet).

Fourth track day was Arizona Motorsports Park (again). Outside temps 80+, no rain, woohoo! (Porsche Club)
- Had no overheating issues. Did 2 sessions probably 15 minutes each

Fifth track day was Wild Horse Pass East Track (again). Outside temps 80+ (ProAutoSports)
- Had no overheating issues (remember, first time it did) I did 3 sessions, 12 laps, 9 laps, 9 laps.

I believe the BG Fluid made the difference.

Next track day will be Wild Horse Pass Mondo Track, Chandler, AZ. November 24th if I am in town, suppose to go to N.C, might delay trip by one day so I can race though. Racing is more important, right?
2.5 miles with 23 turns

Mustang GT Performance Pack 2, is awesome, I love it! Still have yet to see another one here in Arizona.

Happy motoring everyone,
Cheers...

I use 75-140 BG diff fluid and had consistent axle overheats at Mosport in early September, 5-6 laps tops and it would be warning of overheat diff. Very hot day and that track is one of the fastest around where you are on it hard all the time, never had overheats anywhere else though.

Stopped at Peoria Ford while on a business trip this week. As you probably know they are the "self proclaimed" Ford performance vehicle dealer in all of AZ. They had no idea what Performance Package 2 was. After 1/2 hour of education, they could not find one in AZ. So, not surprising you haven't seen one!

BTW, they will sell an ordered (green or blue border) GT350 at MSRP.

The diff warnings/overheating will be highly dependent on the outside temperature, tires used, length of the sessions, and most importantly driver skill.

Glad you're enjoying the PP2, no doubt they're super fun on track.

Same thing happened with my local dealer 6 months ago. I've yet to see them order or bring in a PP2. At this point, maybe they don't want the PP2's to ruin their GT350 sales. I really think the PP2's are going to be one of those rare mustangs in the future if dealers keep doing this.

Anyone selling their new or lightly used Cup 2's I will take them? Be nice to find some that are not on the East coast, shipping is a killer.

Thanks,

I just returned from two days at Oregon Raceway Park where the ambient air temperature was about 95 F. The car is a capable track car and having installed the Full Tilt Boogie diff cooler allowed me to run often and burn two full tanks of gas driving the tracks. The diff cooler was flawless and if you are going to track your PP2, get one installed. These are my Cup 2’s after the first day and I am running -2.8 negative camber on the front. These cleaned up after the first run on the second day and are generally a resilient tire but would get greasy after 5 or 6 laps and then sometimes you would do some drifting at high speed. Slicks would offer a big advantage, probably 3 to 4 seconds a lap. I loved driving the car on the track and it was great driving 7 hours each way to get there and return through central Washington. Great all around car.

Thanks for reporting on this. After your experience with the 75w90, will you continue to run the 75w140 on the street too?

I am running the factory OEM diff oil with the friction stuff added, 75W90, but 3 liters of it.
The gearbox oil also stood up to the test and performed very well. There are not many cars that can be driven out of the showroom and onto a racetrack but this one is very close, just a few enhancements required for longevity and performance. The added touch was how fun it was to drive 7 hours to the track and back, very comfortable even with the Recaro's.

Awesome. I ordered the BG kit a couple of months ago and am finally doing everything this weekend. Got 75w90 with the additive.
