Hey all,

My OEM windshield wipers are complete garbage. My original set started streaking really early on to the point where it became unsafe to drive. Dealer actually confirmed they were torn and replaced them with a new set. A month later it's even worse. On the way up the wipers are ok, but going down the driver side is still 60% unclean.

I'm going to get a set of my own as I have no time or desire to go to the dealer for that. Any recommendations which wipers to get? I live in Canada, so snow+rain performance is a must.

Thanks

I can't help on a recommendation, but I can confirm mine are utter crap as well. Day after I bought the car it rained and I couldn't see. I didn't see the point in going back to the dealership so I'll wait to see what others recommend.

Apparently some people like the silicone wipers you can get online. I guess they "coat" the windshield with silicone and form a water barrier.

I actually run RainX windshield washer fluid so I got that covered. I just need wipers that will last and won't streak in shitty conditions.

My original wipers also were starting to fail after a month or 2.
I've been using the RainX wipers for a while and on previous cars, and they last me a good long while, usually a year and a half or so before they start streaking. And that's with parking in the sun outside all day every day.

Gotcha. I thought that stuff stained the paint/glass so I stayed away. Have you had any issues with it?
I've been reluctant to put actual RainX on my windshield just yet due to bad experience with an inferior product on my previous car, but so far so good. Here is what I have done and my results:

Windshield - Only use RainX windshield washer fluid. Liquid does get repelled, but at really high speeds 80+ KM/H, so for city driving it's crap *maybe there is less product in the washer fluid?), but first time I drove on a highway I was impressed as it was my first time seeing it "work". Pretty cool. I'm not sure if I will coat my windshield with actual RainX just yet, but this is "better" in a sense that you don't have to apply it by hand every 2-3 months - it's always spraying. Definite positive is the beading, even if the liquid is not repelled at 60 KM/H it's still easier to see. Easy to compare to "stock" parts of the windshield where there is not RainX.

Side windows - I put RainX on them. Works amazing. Much better visibility in rain.

Back window - I don't really know why I coated it with RainX. Beading is nice I guess haha :headbonk:

Mirrors - Coated with RainX. Big mistake. When it rains and it's cool outside, the beading makes it really hard to see and the beads dont fall off while driving!!! :frusty:

I have yet to try the anti-fog RainX for the inside of my windows.

Rain-X helps a ton. Sheeting is bad when it's raining. You want water to bead. I almost couldn't see anything first time driving it in the rain after I got it.

Bosch Icons. You pay for them, but they last a long time and don't streak.
Are you actually using them? I just went to Bosch's website and it says "Part number is not compatible with 2015 mustang"

I did some research a while back and I'm 99.9% sure the 15/16 is using the same wipers as '11-14. I believe I came to this conclusion due to the fact that the OE Ford / Motorcraft replacement wiper numbers were the same.

Bosch's web site did not show an Icon part number for 15/16 then, so I'm guessing they still have not up-dated their web site yet.

I've tried all kinds of wipers over the years but once I tried Bosch Icon's maybe 10 years ago, I'm hooked ... ALL my cars since (except for my '69) have had them.

Yeah I think Icons are "top clip" which matches what the manual says about replacing the wipers. As long as that attachment is there it should be fine. Worst case I'll settle for RainX Lattitudes.

I have always had good luck with RainX wipers in the past but now I don't have the need for them. The dealership in Texas where I bought the car put some special coating on my windshield that protects against chips and helps with water/bugs.

I have some Bosch wipers, but I don't think they are any better than the stock ones. The frame looks a little different but I compared the actual rubber blade and I would be shocked if it didn't come off the same mold, every little detail is identical.

This said I thought the wipers were terrible till I was washing the windshield and felt some resistance. I used a clay bar over the whole thing and there was definitely some type of invisible residue on it that was making the wipers not work worth a damn. Haven't had problems since.

I use Aquapel on all my cars, it does wonder , barely use the wipers on my Explorer anymore. This stuff is 100X better than RainX. Ask me how i know !
I got a box of 24 off a guy on Ebay.

Alright, just did some more checking tonight.

Now I'm seeing different Motorcraft part numbers for 2010-14 vs. 2015 and 2016 was showing different numbers yet (per RockAuto). 2005-09 uses different wipers as well compared to 2010-14 (per Bosch site). Bosch's site did not even show applications for 2014 yet (even though wipers are the same as 11-13 per RockAuto), so they are really behind on updating their site.

So ... who ever has successfully put Bosch Icon's on a 2015 or 2016 you need to supply part numbers of what fit !!

I was saving my recently purchased Icon set for my 2011 (22OE & 20OE) waiting until they actually started making noise before installing as I figured I'd not waste them (if the existing ones make it through the winter) thinking they would also fit my 2016 I plan on ordering soon for delivery this Spring.
