Yeah, those Fox bodies were a blast. Amazing how much fun we had in them with only 215-225 hp. Small and light, those were the days.

And I forgot to mention the '67 fastback is my old time favorite. One day I'll have the space and money to keep all four! :ford:

I still think if anyone hasn't owned a mustang, the S197 II is a must because it's the last breed of the live-axle and retro design mustang that feels and looks more American than European. Well, at least that's how I feel being accustomed to German ride quality and finish.
Driven a few, felt meh about them, and genuinely hated the live axle feeling over less than smooth roads.

Hey it isn't my money when it's driven off the lot and its worth less:)

Most would disagree with you that it's not worth the $10K. It's a much better car even in base form, that just gets even nicer with the premium.

"Just got some bad news from my boss about a promotion of sorts I was counting on (due to someone else not retiring as expected)so it looks like my purchase won't happen until around this time next year."
Oh ok. You are right. Promotion issue is still the same but it wont effect the purchase at this point.

Thats the beauty of buying used from a private seller. Still under warranty and no profit needed.

Mainly drive autos but in a car like this its gotta be stick!

I have no plans to to anything to the engine. However for those that want to do a supercharger, I thoughts the stock gearing was preferable.

Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by stock gearing?

GT Auto = 3.15 standard or 3.55 optional
GT 6MT = 3.31 standard or 3.55 optional
GT 6MT PP = 3.73 standard

If you mean 3.31 gears are stock for a 6MT, you are technically correct. Whether that ratio is preferable for a SC engine is a matter of picking your poison... with 3.31s you'll be turning slightly lower RPMs at higher speeds or with 3.55/3.73s you'll get a slightly better jump off the line all other things being equal.

I was born many, many, many moons ago :D, and when I was growing up, your typical rear end gearing choices were pretty wide... 2.73s were highway cruising gears, 3.73s were the all-around gears and 4.10s were drag racing gears, I've always leaned towards the 3.73s when I had a choice... just my preference.

What I meant by stock is the non performance packaged GT.

I thought I read somewhere that the gearing, or maybe it was something else was better on the non-PP car if a supercharger was going to be added.

Maybe I mis-read though.

In any case, like I said, no planse to do much of anything mechanically to the car. Only protective measures and maintenance.

Thanks

Did anyone buy parts for their car before they actually bought the car? Maybe you were waiting for it to arrive from the factory, maybe for the right car to come up on the used market. But with parts you planned to install, swap out, or things to use with the car, did you buy them ahead of actually having the car?

As I find out exactly what I want, knowing that the part/item isn't likely to change between now and when I find the car, I'm considering getting a head start. Just curious if anyone else did the same or is it always best to wait?

Thanks
