Sorry to hear man. Stay on the forums though!
Thanks, yeah, will do for sure!!

To be honest, now that I have more time before purchasing, that means the value/cost is going to go down so no real reason to consider or even test the 13-14's. And since this place is mainly focused on the 15+, it is definitely where I want to stay for discussion and info.

Just bummed because I've been working like a dog for 2+ years now waiting for my part time spot here to turn into full time. That way instead of working 3 jobs (I'm a masters level license professional counselor at a college, residential facility and private practice) I can be down to 1 or 2. Don't read that wrong, I'm not struggling or anything...I earn a comfortable living. Just sucks having to coordinate 3 different schedules, no sick/vacation days, etc.

Sorry to hear that. Keep your head up...hard work does pay off, just takes longer than we hope sometimes.

Thanks, I'm pretty confident it'll pay off but it's a matter of when. Never had a job where I was banking most of my hopes on someone's retirement in order to progress.

I've been pretty fortunate up until these last few years as far as toys go...have a 12'x12' room filled with them. It's just that, instead of vroom they go bang. ;)

Honestly, when you are ready, Im seeing plenty of 13-14 in the 23k to 26k range. To me its not worth another 10k plus for a new Premium GT. With depreciation, you wont be that far compared to a 13-14 model.

Now that you can't afford the S550 for another year, do yourself a favor and get into an older mustang now. I got my 2010 GT about a year ago to quench my mustang thirst. I've have always wanted a Mustang but its interior quality kept me from pulling the trigger. I remember that I loved the 2005 mustang looks but once I sat in that interior it was an immediate turn off. The 2010 changed that but I still wouldn't have purchased an S197 new. The S550 is the first Mustang I would buy new. Obviously I'm talking GT premium. I knew a year ago that I couldn't afford the S550 GT PP until sometime in 2016, so I decided to get into a Mustang now because that year and a half was going to be a long and painful one. So it was down to a base V6 S550 or a 2010-11 GT. I can't stand a Mustang that's not V8 and automatic. So I went with a 2010. I've always been enamored with the sound of the 4.6 and its exhaust and that alone made me choose the 4.6 over the 5.0. I was also lucky that it came with the track pack. I'm eventually going to have the 5.0 with the S550 so no regrets with the 4.6 (it's plenty fast). Now that I'm only a mere 4-6 months away from comfortably able to handle the S550's payment, I'm waiting another year at least because I love my car so much. As someone else mentioned, the S197 and S550 are very different cars. I personally enjoy the S197 II (2010-2014) because that was the American muscle car experience I was craving for. A perfect combination of retro design and modern. It's loud, unrefined, bouncy and fast. The S550 (I've driven both PP and non-PP) it's more euro like sports car which is both good and bad, but that's another story. Since you probably don't care about exhaust sound like I did, my recommendation is go for a 2011 or 2012. That's 412 hp on a 3600 lb car. The S197 II it's a great car and I highly recommend owning one before owning an S550.

Where did I say this?...about another year before being able to buy??

My plan is to buy in the summer because I can't buy now. Huge day care bill means I can't even buy a beater now. Once that's out of the equation in June, $1000/mo gets freed up. So half can go to payments, a quarter can go to savings and the other quarter can go into a vacation account.

Knowing what I know about the changes made between 14 and 15, and the fact that when I can afford to buy a 15 is well within budget...no real reason to buy a 14.

Thanks though.

See I feel differently. Since I will have the same capability to buy a 15 as a 14, the 15 is definitely worth the extra money because of the differences. And in the summer the price will have lowered even more. So I'm not really paying attention to what the 14's are doing anymore. Just watching the 15's, mostly on cars.com for a point of reference, and buying when able to.

Thanks

Are you more of an auto or stick kind of guy? I ask because you can't get a stick without getting the PP. For me, I hadn't driven a stick in probably 20 years, but... I wanted the Brembo brakes, the 3:73 gears and the dash gauges, so I went with the PP.

Sure, you can add Brembos to a non-PP car, but that's $5k +. I plan on supercharging mine in the future, so I wanted the ability to add a boost gauge easily and that meant getting the dash gauges.

Since you have some time, analyse what you want the car to become (if you're planning on modding) and then decide which options best fit the outcome. Whatever you choose to get, the 6G is a great car... you'll be happy!

Mainly drive autos but in a car like this its gotta be stick!

I have no plans to to anything to the engine. However for those that want to do a supercharger, I thoughts the stock gearing was preferable.

Thanks

Most would disagree with you that it's not worth the $10K. It's a much better car even in base form, that just gets even nicer with the premium.

exactly, I wouldn't touch a 14 with a ten foot pole. gross. it was the 15 that made me notice the mustang again since 1993 so I bought a 2016 since it took me a year to work up the courage and swallow my pride enough to have a mustang again, lol.:D

I bought a '14 in July 2014. I knew the new ones were coming out, we ever knew most of the specs and most of the design.

I've had nearly every generation of mustang, in order.
'65 Coupe
'71 Mach 1
'86 GT
'90 GT
'02 GT

I was primed for a fifth gen. The fact that FORD was offering huge rebates and low financing sealed the deal. For me, it was the natural progression that led me to a '14. I wanted to have an S197. And so it was.
Also, my panel alignment is spectacular.

All that mushy stuff aside, If it wasn't for my need to have each iteration of the Mustang, and the FAT deal I got, I'd probably have waited for a '15.

I will not test drive one. :) Not for a few years.

I still think if anyone hasn't owned a mustang, the S197 II is a must because it's the last breed of the live-axle and retro design mustang that feels and looks more American than European. Well, at least that's how I feel being accustomed to German ride quality and finish.

Nice Mustang history there. I like the 1990 5.0 as well as the 1994-95 GT. Go and drive the S550. Sure, as soon as you get back to your S197 you'll feel like "oh man, my ride looks and feels old" but after a few hours, you look at your ride in the driveway and fire-up that engine and hear that muscular V8 you'll smile again and say "I'm glad I own the last masculine looking Stang"
