After spending over an hour trying to get these to fit and allow the bonnet to shut without catching or rubbing, even modifying the brackets to get them to align better did not work.

I went on youtube an watched the installation video and on closer inspection the EU bonnet has completely different hinges which reduce the gap that the strut is supposed to slot into, and have a tab that impacts the strut no matter which way it is set up.

so just in case anyone is thinking of buying these, DON'T as they DO NOT fit.

Sam,

Sorry to hear that. Can you post a pic of the hinges? I would love to see what you are talking about.

Yes certainly, i have taken photos of both side on mine, and attached a screen of the install video, the circled part is the bit that impacts the strut, if you look closely you can see the damaged paint on the inside of the hinge from where it rubbed.

Hey guys
Has anyone tried to fit the Redline hood struts yet, or are these going to have the same problem?

Is this an RHD problem then as the Redline struts have been fitted by some of our mainland Europe friends with no issues?

You are right. Your hinges are different. I wonder why? Makes no sense to have different hinges when the hood (bonnet) is the almost the same except for the hood vents. Interesting.

Wow, how frustrating. :( Seemingly a small, yet apparently quite a significant difference. Wonder why Ford thought it was necessary?

It's the pedestrian impact pop up hoods mandated in Europe that require the special hinges.
