I've been lurking the boards for a few months now and just decided to make an account as I think I'm about to pull the trigger on a '16 GT PP. I went to the dealer today and test drove a 6-speed CS because they didn't have any PP cars on the lot. The guys at the dealer found what I'm looking for at another dealer and it should be in town in a couple of days.

Anything in particular I should know about? Like I said I've been lurking and reading a lot, so I don't have any particular questions. I'm coming from an LS1 Trans Am that I've had for a few years. Its a great car mechanically, but some of the comfort features are failing and I don't have the time nor do I want to spend the money to make the repairs. I'm wondering what I can expect as far as performance and power. Obviously the Mustang should be superior, but I've enjoyed my TA and the power it produces. I didn't get on the car at the dealer too much today, but I could tell it had some get-up-and-go.

Thanks guys! I've always wanted a Mustang and it looks like I may get that wish soon!

Love those LS1 engines. Do you have the WS6 package?
I think the SBC pushrod motors make more low end torque but the Coyote 5.0 is more rev-happy.
I used to love 4th gen F-bodies; it's amazing how far interior comfort and design has come on the new Mustang versus GM products from the early 2000s and even NOW. The interior is beautiful.

Welcome to the board. Since you've been lurking around a while, I'm sure you're familiar with the spare tire issues on a PP car? That, and the fact that I personally don't care for black wheels, I would have bought the PP option. It's a hell of a deal for the price.
Those CS cars are sharp. Wish they were out when I bought mine.
No matter which one you get, you will love it!

Unfortunately, it doesn't have the WS6 package. I did have a 3rd gen formula in high school with the WS6 package. It was a lot of fun to drive.

I assume by issues you mean the fact that they can't be equipped with a spare tire? Yeah that is unfortunate. Maybe I'll have to update my AAA membership. I originally wasn't sure about the black wheels either, but they've grown on me. Its likely that I'll eventually buy some other wheels that aren't black.

Welcome! What color are you going with?
Enjoy!
The car I'm looking at getting is guard. I haven't seen a color that I don't like, but I haven't seen anyone with that color in my area and I like the idea of having one of the only ones locally. I've been back and forth with DIB, ruby red, and comp orange, but it looks like it'll be guard.

You will not regret the purchase! PP/GT here and it's the only way to go if you are considering the GT Packages and want the best bang for your buck.

Guard is a gorgeous color!

the cooled seats don't work and Ford has no fix. The leather will wrinkle

other than that you can find S550 spares on ebay or from the dealer for $200, which is nothing. I personally bought a fullsize extra to match what I have (although I have 18's and that is probably the biggest that will fit in the well, not to mention losing a bit of load depth)

other than that congrats and good luck

To address the PP and black wheels issue, there is an option to get the luster nickel color on the PP instead. It's a little bit more expensive but you get non-black rims on a PP.

Drive the car extensively and take it home for a night before pulling the trigger. The driveline vibration issue should be a genuine concern. This is not a small isolated problem. If the car has any, run. Ford has not been good about fixing these cars and the dealers are often clueless. Ford has had to buy back a number of them and it is a huge hassle you should avoid if the car has any vibration. Make sure the tires are inflated correctly... it can mask the DL vibration.

Well I picked her up on Monday. This thing is awesome! I haven't been able to enjoy it too much yet though with work and the weather being awful this week. I ended up getting the 401a package with it, which wasn't something that I had to have, but I am glad that the car ended up having it. I'm loving the extra features.

So far I've ordered some cleaning supplies from chemical guys, meguiars, and adams. Maybe I'll get a chance to clean it up some this weekend. I'm considering buying some Weathertech floor mats for it. My wife has some in her car and they're great. Also need to get some new tires. Thinking BF Goodrich or Michelin all-seasons. Also planning on getting the windows tinted in the next few weeks and I'll grab a catback for it eventually. Debating between the Borla S-type and the Corsa Xtreme.

All in all, I'm very excited about my purchase so far!
