Hi there

So one of the changes from the USA to UK model claimed by Ford is Unique Chassis Tuning because supposedly the standard USA PP car was not as suitable for our roads:

So we know what parts Ford changed, maybe UK cars have different dampers/springs or other suspension parts compared to a USA GT PP car? Does anyone know?

I'll try to find someone on the Ford Performance stand at SEMA who might know. My guess is it's dampers and possibly springs but I'll try to find out tomorrow

Would be hugely appreciated, because my trigger finger is hovering over the FRPP Handling kit at $950 which for what you get is incredible value.

Here is the kit, but I am sure you know which one I mean:
http://www.levittownfordsupercenter.com/ford-racing-mustang-handling-p-3253.html

The US guys who have fitted it say its a vast improvement over the GT PP suspension, ride is ever so slightly harsher which of course will be attributed to the firmer/lower springs and larger anti-roll bars. But most of all this kit completely eliminates the rear bounce the stock PP suspension suffers badly from. This is because the stock dampers in the rear of the GT PP cars can not rebound fast enough for the spring rate installed as standard and even though fitted a higher rated spring helps, that will kill the standard damper in time.

So my worry is that maybe UK cars get the FRPP dampers as standard because that is what was needed to cure rear bounce, faster reacting (rebound) rear dampers which the FRPP are. So would be great to know what Ford actually did or changed in the car.

Might have to change my suspension plans yet again! :D

Interesting to see just the one interior mentioned......

Also on ETIS for cars that are built they have updated the list to include the following;

FR3C 5310 J* Left/Front Coil
FR3C 5310 J* Right/Front Coil
FR3C-5560-H* Left Rear Coil
FR3C-5560-H* Right Rear Coil

I assume coil means spring?

Has ETIS got the partcodes for the UK PP anti-roll bars and dampers yet please?

Ford claiming unique chassis tuning means they either changed the springs, dampers, anti-roll bars most likely or they just changed the allignment settings on UK cars maybe......

Yes coils mean springs and as far as I can see there is no mention of changes to other parts on my ETIS so I can't see part numbers etc for the other parts. I would think it's just the springs they have changed and nothing else otherwise other parts would be listed differently.

Do the stock USA GT PP cars have linear or progressive springs do you know?

I will go and look at the UK RHD Mustang at TC Harrison today/tomorrow and try to see if the springs are linear or progressive on it as they might have just change spring type. Ride height looks same on UK car compared to USA.

Or is just same type of spring but different spring rate.

If that is the case than my original plan of getting the FRPP Handling kit will still be fine then. :)

I am guessing it is PP "chassis tuning" since the car is theoretically is a non-PP (since PP really doesn't exist in EU versions) - just has bits and pieces from PP.

That's how I would read the table from 1st post.

My expectation is that roll bars will probably be stiffer for the UK in common with other US exports to the UK, we have more corners, and stiffer springs because our roads are horrible. Other than that I'd wait until I drive mine to work out whether it needs tweaking. Adjustable, upmarket, dampers would always be worth adding though.

Are you not reading this wrong? Is it not saying that the UK cars have elements of the US performance package as listed not unique UK modifications. The US package in total is:

• 3.55 Limited Slip Rear Axle
• 19 X 9-inch Gloss Black painted aluminum wheels (Summer Tires Only)
• 255/40R 19 Summer Only Tires
• "Engine Turn" Aluminum Instrument Panel
• Gauge Pack (Oil Pressure and Boost)
• Heavy-Duty Front Springs
• Larger Brake Rotors with 4-Piston Calipers
• Larger Radiator
• Spoiler Delete
• Unique Chassis Tuning
• Unique EPAS, ABS and stability control tuning
• Upsized Rear Sway Bar

i.e. we only get the 4 items listed; I know there are 5 but 1 is unique to ecoboost and 1 to GT

If that is the case it means we don't get the heavy-duty front springs or upsized rear sway bar, so UK PP cars are quite soft then.

If that is the case makes the FRPP handling kit even more necessary. :)

Unfortunately I couldn't find any engineering types on the stand today - though I think the team here are unlikely to have in depth knowledge of EU spec anyway.

Lots of other lovely things to look at of course....

It has been confirmed that the UK model will have unique chassis tweaks for our roads. They haven't actually explained yet what those are... But our cars will be different to US and Euro versions.

Following the link, the price I see is $1015, have you negotiated a further discount? Or is there a forum discount we can apply?

I'm looking to do similar mod and this would be my early Crimbo pressy

US GT PP cars have 3.73 Gear and Torsen LSD which European cars don't. That's why I'm betting list in the first post really lists pieces of US PP and nothing else.
