How does it work, do we send the goods to your forwarding address, I was thinking of importing a set of wheels.

you buy the parts get them sent to Rons address in the US, he then ships them over, you collect from Essex, or he sends the stuff onto you

Yes that's exactly how it works.

In the first instance just email me with what you want to bring over and I will give you a price and instructions. For wheels I just need the quantity ad size.

Also, nothing to pay until they are here.

That's good to know we have an alternative to the sometimes biblically ridiculous prices some US companies charge for shipping.

Saw a few goodies during my last trip to the US which would have been somewhat unrealistic to try and bring back as part of my economy luggage allowance... but looks like I can now start re-compiling my shopping list again!

Im looking to bring over a cat back exhaust and a set of lowering springs, and I'm in no rush at all.
I was planning on using Stackry, but I get the feeling it might be cheaper using this container system, as I bet Stackry air freight.

Can you give me an estimated shipping cost please Ron?

One more thing, when I use stackry they allow you to write your own invoice, can I do this at your end, I know you can't take the p!ss .

With our containers they are packed by our guys in Miami, sealed and go to port with all the paperwork. This is assessed by Miami customs where the container sits for seven days to allow them to inspect if they wish.

When it gets here we submit all the paperwork to our customs and they have four options:

Route 1: - A cursory look at documentation and then cleared

Route 2: - An in depth look at documentation and then cleared

Route 3: - An Xray of the container, look at documentation and then cleared

Route 4: - Empty the box for a full investigation

Mostly it's 1 & 2 because we have the paperwork in good order but we have had four Xrays during the eight years we have done this and they charge for the privilege. With these three options, when the container is cleared we have it delivered to us in Great Leighs where we unload it. The great thing is only our people handle the goods both sides of the Atlantic.

Route 4 would change all that. So why would they choose route 4? If an in depth look at paperwork had an invoice for let's say a crate engine for $250 and then various other invoices for ridiculously cheap goods it could get flagged. We pay taxes on the invoices we are given but HMRC are not stupid. They do not have enough staff which is why lots slip through but we strive not to give them any excuses to empty a container at the docks. We do not want other people handling the goods. Therefore, if we get a totally stupid invoice we pull it at the Florida end.

With Stackry the package that may be pulled is yours and yours alone so they don't care so just think about it. For example you can get a hood for $1500 but you can also get one for $750. You can't get one for $150 so it just requires a bit of thought.
