Do you guys get annoyed when people's first question is "Is it a manual?". Like, it does't annoye me, but most people give a little chuckle as if it's not a "real" Mustang because it's not a manual.

I got my automatic V6 about 3 months ago. I love the car, but I regret not considering a manual first.

I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase this as my first car at the age of 18. No help from parents; all by myself. Every penny that went/goes towards this car is earned by myself.

The reason why I got an Automatic is because I drive a decent amount between locations for my job each day. It's not far, but its city traffic. Red light after red light. I didn't want to bother with a manual transmission.

The other reason I got the automatic was as it being my first car, I was nervous I would have to concentrate too much on shifting and not just driving. I feel this wore off about a week after buying the car since I felt a lot more comfortable driving. I didn't want to get into an accident and have my insurance through the roof. I also was intimidated by driving a brand new car. I was very nervous about getting into an accident. But like I said, this wore off pretty quick.

I was looking this week on trading in my car for a 15/16 6S Manual, but it's going to cost be about $3,500. I can't afford that :(

Been driving manual cars for years and was ready for a change. Plus, not a fan of the MT-82. Wasn't horrible in my 14 GT but nothing near great. Driving normal it was fine but with any load, it felt like I was either gonna be in the wrong gear or break it. Was not a confidence inspiring transmission for me when driving spirited. A Whiteline trans bushing helped a little but at the expense of NVH.

As far as any feedback? Don't care. I drive an Ecoboost so I will have to wade through all the "Why didn't you buy a GT?" BS before getting flamed for the Auto. I gotn what I wanted and I'm happy with it. The 6 speed auto feels good and responsive especially in sport mode.

I have had that question several times. In my opinion, while more fun to drive in some instances, I, like you, have a lot of stop and go, and a good amount of distance driving too. With that said, leaving it on cruise didn't justify manual, and stop and go doesn't justify manual (to me). Also the biggest factor was Winter driving. I didn't want to be worried about shifting in a potential spin or loss of control. If I didn't have to drive in the winter with the car as much as I do, and if I had a more balanced drive with long winding roads and hills, i would have gone for the manual.
Just my opinion. My gt comes in in approx 1-2 weeks!

My previous sports car was a manual 2009 RX-8 R3. It was fun to fiddle with the shifter but I want something to sit back and just cruise in the new car. Remote start is a nice feature and my aging parents can drive it. Friends can drive it without worrying about damaging the clutch.
With that being said the manual on the S550 is poorly set up. Bad pedal position and poor clutch pedal biting point feel.
Oh the fun eating an icecream in the summer when driving.

I bought my 2015 with an automatic for one reason: the manual in these cars (namely the MT82) absolutely sucks.

I had a 2014 v6 and the transmission shredded itself in less that 15K of passive sedan-style driving. I didn't have my car back for 2 months because Ford and the dealership couldn't get their shit together as to wether or not it would be covered by warranty. It look a a tow to a third party independent inspection transmission shop, that affirmed it was mechanical failure, to get Ford to get their head of of their arse and fix it. I then sold the damn thing because even after a new transmission it had a weird grinding when going from first to second and just had me feeling uneasy.

The auto in these cars are rock solid, proven, with little issues. I'll buy another manual mustang when the transmission isn't a piece of garbage, and the engineering of the entire shifting assembly doesn't look like a 4 year old tinker toy expert designed it.

Oh boy let's get the popcorn.

Everyone has their own preferences, so get what pleases you. I'm glad you get the choice, but I think we can all agree both the manual and automatic could both be improved.

For almost the same reason you did. I do a lot of city driving with red lights and highway stop-n-go traffic daily. While as fun as they can be at times, with my daily drive a manual would get old really quick.
And I've never really gotten flamed for my choice either. I've often heard the question of why I got a manual and once I tell them what my daily drive is, they agree with my choice lol

I initially went in for a manual, but I wanted one with very specific preferences, and there weren't any within like 200 miles. They had my current one sitting on the showroom floor and it was very attractive.

I had never driven a manual before, but I did test drive one before making my purchase. My salesman did a great job at showing me and I had already knew the basics beforehand, but it was very intimidating for a first time. At the end of the day, I figured I'd just go with the automatic since it had paddle shifters that I could have some fun with.

I'm about 98% sure I'll go manual next time. Just feels like I'm missing out on enjoying the car a lot more. Every now and again another mustang will pass by and just do a friendly rev, and I'm just like nope... not happenin' over here man. *flashes lights*. It really feels weird when the top is down though, considering I drive with paddle shifters (idk why but it's a habit now and I can't stand to let the car do its own thing anymore).

I got auto because I have never owned one.
I had an 88 GT manual
01 GT manual
95 RX-7 manual
08 GT manual
13 GT manual

So I decided to get an Auto. So far 3k miles and I really like it. In Track mode and using paddles its fun. I know I couldn't out shift my 15 Auto that's for sure. As for peoples comments? If you don't make my payments or #$%^ my %$#^ I don't care about your comments.

When test driving I had way more fun playing with the different modes for the Auto than I did the manual. My 09 was a 5 speed and sometimes I miss rowing the gears.
