Not sure if this has been discussed or not but why does the American version of the car not come with the electric folding mirrors? I have to park in a parking garage on campus and would love to be able to hit a switch and fold my mirrors in. I looked it up on google and found a video where the UK model has them. So what's the deal, an American car manufacture giving other countries better features?

Some American 'cars' do come with the folding mirrors such as the big ol heavy duty trucks like f250 f350 but it is simply not necessary on a sports car like the s550

CommyO, his point was that the s550 in europe already comes with the power folding mirrors, so why are they not installed here by default as well.

And they can be extremely useful if you live in a city. This car is by no means small.

Exactly, if they are to be standard equipment on the cars in Europe, they should be standard equipment on the cars in the same country as the manufacturer..

I have that feature on my Explorer limited and just love it. I was hoping they'd come standard on the Mustang, at least make it an option with Premium cars or something.

As long as they're NOT the 'dumbo' mirrors.... they're not, are they? (have not taken the time to look it up)

... I could see it being a Premium option....

Look at the EU stangs and the US stangs. They look significantly different. Also EU occupies a smaller space than the US. They have tighter parking and more complexes. We have houses and much wider parking, We don't need fold-able mirrors. Well, most of us anyway.

We get folding but jumbo mirrors - I guess your small mirrors can't fold as easily...

My post was not intended to bash any other country or their cars, but it just angers me that I pay "premium" price for a 'premium" mustang and just because i'm not from a certain location i miss out on "premium" features.

I care about infotainment
Coming from an S197 I'm just happy the mirrors can fold in at all.

EU mirrors are quite a bit larger and as mentioned the much tighter spaces warrant them. Our mirrors do fold, just manually.

Auto makers decisions are cost driven. The original Mustang might have had dual headlights, but they cost $10 more per car. When you sell a 1.2 million cars in 2 1/2 years, 64 1/2 through 66, that was a lot of money.

Necessary? The Mustang is not about necessity and don't even kid yourself into think such things. Pony puddle lights? Zero practicality.

If I could trade the puddle lights and interior mood lighting for automatic folding function I would in a heartbeat. If Ford was smart they would integrate the folding mirrors into the 401A package on future models as I'm sure the market is there. Some people like a more premium feel with their cars and I personally would love the functionality of folding mirrors on such a large vehicle.

I'd also appreciate the ability to select GT Performance Package w/ automatic gearbox since the Euro models also have that feature as well minus the console gauges.
