The paper work that came with the kit said nothing on setting the belt adjuster .. I get how it works by using the 1/4 inch allen bolt to move the adjuster.. But I have no cue how tight the belt needs to be .. Is there a range it needs to be set at so the stock factory adjuster works like it should ? I'm worried if I make the procharger adjuster to tight the factory adjuster might run out of range and cause damage to the belt or to the super charger bearings ...

Thanks for any info ...

Start by setting the tensioner as loose as it will go.then start to tension a little at a time and check the belt. It should have about a half inch of play when cold. The belt tightens as it gets warm.

PM Toothless on here. I helped him install his kit, and we called Procharger about the tensioner for the belt. I can't remember what he told us as far as tension amount. Toothless might remember and can let you know.

The tensioner is a rotating spring. SO if its being done correctly, then you want to get to to the point where it is almost, but not totally bottomed out. Since yes, when the motor heats up it "grows" and the belt will get tighter, but after a bit the belt stretches so you want to make sure its not going loose over time.

Basically, the stock tensioner still does the tensioning. You are using the Procharger tensioner as a secondary take up "slack" pulley. The two must work together. You need to loosen the Procharger one all the way towards the driver side as far as it will go in its slot. Then put the belt on.

NOTE: The crank pulley can not be the last pulley to put the belt on. It has a larger shoulder flange. It must go on relatively first in the process after the prochargers routing. Its best to use one of the flat pulleys to slide the belt on while the stock tensioner is deflected.

So once you get the belt on, you keep moving the Procharger tensioning pulley towards the passenger side until you have about 1/2" of deflection left in the stock tensioner (as if you were trying to remove the belt, and the stock tensioner would only deflect about a 1/2" an inch to loosen the belt to get it off). This will get you the maximum amount of stock tensioner auto adjustement to keep the belt tight over time as the belt stretches. But the 1/2" of movement allows a little cushion in the other direction for bounce.

The stock tensioner still does all the tensioning and will control belt tension as long as the stock tensioner is not bottomed out in either direction of movement.

The Procharger tensioner cant do anything but deflect the stock tensioner. To me its not a tensioner, its a take up pulley. (that takes up slack) so the stock tensioner can do its job. Or in other words its a secondary tensioner.

Everything I am talking about is in regards to the Stage 1 setup. I haven't seen the tensioning method for the Stage 2.

The Stage 2 is easy, since its just a short belt with one tensioner.
Crank it down snug as a bug in a rug, and your golden. :)

All seemed a little strange to me , so I called Procharger today and asked them ..He told me there were timing marks on the stock tensioner , so looked real close ( bad eyes ) and I did see two timing marks .. He said to set it close too the last mark ( looking at stock tensioner that would be to line to the left side ) So I adjusted the Procharger tensioner till the marks lined up .. Belt seems to be pretty tight ... I'll give it a shot and see if that works ..
