Ive had a letter from fords via my dealer saying they have now started rhd production (keep up fords don't you use this website) but due to demand my build is delayed till they hope late Dec My vista details still show 15 October I've emailed karen for a explanation :frusty:
Yes, I got exactly the same - letter said they were doing all they could to build by December at the latest. I'd emailed the dealer so he sent me a scanned copy of the letter he was about to post. In the email he stated it was an October 15th build however but i suspected that was just a default Vista entry.
Will wait until Friday to email Karen however i'd be interested to hear what she replies to you also.

My deposit was 22/2/2015. The letter specifically mentions the GT (but that could just be because that's what I ordered). If you've been told your car is built I would have no reason to doubt it - there seemed to be a bunch of EBs that were supposedly built around the same time.

I wouldn't be surprised to find there are production line issues with the GTs that are slowing the builds down, ie the ones that are coming off the line are requiring additional "upfitting". That's total speculation of course.

We're at the point now where if my car isn't built on the 15/10 (and i'm fairly confident it won't be) then another couple of months won't hurt as it would put delivery late Feb/March.

Still don't really no what upfitting is?

Surely the car is built on the production line and comes out at the end as a finished vehicle.

Is it because they are worried about QC for the UK so any mis-aligned panels, glass etc have to be rectified in another dept?

As far as I understand upfitting covers from the very simple to the very complex.
Changing a standard car from the production line to a police pursuit vehicle
Fitting some factory options such as decals
Correcting production line problems i.e. damaged/missing part
Possibly quality control issues

I'm thinking that the first run of RHD GT's had issues (maybe the Header problem). So they all had to go to the Upfitters, hence the delays for Gate Release. Therefore the second run may have been postponed until the new parts (possible header ) could be installed during normal factory build.
Sound feasible ????

My ETIS updated to say "English Export RHD Owner Handbook". This could be upfitting (to put the owner manual in the glove box)

Taken from another site

Upfitting means to customise (make/change something according to the buyer's or user's needs) a new vehicle, in this case a truck.

I got an email from Karen last week, saying my car is at the US docks and due to be shipped sometime this week. She said the 9-12 week estimated delivery is from the car being gate released and not shipped. Mine was gate released 01/10/15 despite being built on 28/9/15.

Fingers crossed for early Dec delivery.

Your car has clearly taken the shady spot in a corner of flat rock that mine vacated after 6 weeks, on its own, in the dark, scared and lonely.
Other cars would drive past it and shake their hoods in despair at the freak sitting in the corner with its steering wheel on the wrong side.

I just got a letter today from Ford to say that, "Whilst your vehicle isn't yet scheduled for build, this is likely to be Q2 2016." This is after my dealer telling me when I ordered that I would have it in Q1 and also our friend Andy told me to expect it by the end of March/start of April, now it's looking more like Q3 2016 delivery!!! At this point I'm seriously considering moving out to the states and ordering one there, I would get a proper Mustang, get it a lot sooner and also save about ÂŁ10k :frusty: I also got a letter from VW today but I don't even want to go into that
