I just put on my SP off road headers, and it's quite tinny/raspy sounding now. I don't mind some rasp, but this is excessive. I've been thinking about getting some resonators and putting them into the x pipe or axle back. Is there going to be much of a difference between brands of resonators, if the diameter/length is the same? Dynomax vs magnaflow vs Vibrant. Will they result in basically the same sound change? Will putting them in the x pipe vs axle back make any difference?

Dynomax resonators have had good results for exactly what you are describing. I used Pypes M80's for my 2011 with longtubes and they cut down on rasp and overall volume nicely while retaining the awesome sound.

I would look for whatever resonator you shop to have perforated cores and not louvered. Perforated has slightly better flow and subjectively sounds better when all else is equal.

Thanks guys. I'll try and get some vids. And then probably go with dynomax.

I agree, perforated core would make them a muffler and should keep most of the tone of the exhaust while cutting down on unwanted noises like rasp and tinniness.

So I guess dynomax is the answer then. I'll probably put them in the x pipe so I don't have to mess with the black coating on the axle back portion.

I borrowed a go pro and got some out of car vids...I'll try and get them posted later. Sounds awesome from outside the car. I only hear the rasp/buzz/rattle from the part throttle driving inside the cabin. From outside it sounds amazing.

Just installed some Vibrant resonators on my SP/Magnaflow setup. Will post vid when I can.

I haven't heard it myself, but I'm being told the drone has been reduced, and it has a really nice growl.

I have Vibrant resonators on my '05. Great product and price.

Here's what it sounds like out of the car:

Part Throttle

Part Throttle on car

WOT

WOT on car

After hearing these, I think I'm going to leave as is. The tinny sound mainly is heard in the cabin. The out of the car WOT vid doesn't do it justice for how ungodly loud it is.

You should try to get any resonators back away from the engine more. Too much heat at the header collectors.

I wasn't there to direct them (in Brazil for work), so I'll see how it holds up. If I have issues, i'll try an H-pipe setup with the resonators closer to the tail pipes.
