Boss manifold going on

Here's what I did with a Boss manifold a couple years ago. Shaved off the "Boss 302" lettering and ribs, filled, sanded, and then painted the cover to match the color of the 5.0 I had at that time.

I'm sure by shaving the top cover depending on where it makes contact with the inside of the hood, shaving the top cover could lower the overall height of the manifold a 1/2" easily.

That looks so much better then how it came. Looks great, nice job. I wonder if that would help the clearance issue.

So does anyone know what the hard limit on the max rpm that the 2015 can run? I believe the 11-14 GT's had a hard limit of 7700 rpm without the ford racing timing ring which increased it to 8100. I am wondering because in the Lund dyno video with the Boss manifold they had the rev limit set to 8000 rpm which would be higher than the 11-14 car's.

Well I finally just pulled the trigger on a Boss intake. Found one brand new in box for $400 on Ebay. Been surfing for one for awhile. I will be keeping the OEM throttle body. I couldnt wait any longer. I'm just waiting on my Lund tune revision, and I will get this installed next week. I will be dynoing it with my current set up, then i will dyno it on the same dyno right after the boss is installed if Lund thinks the preliminary tune is safe enough to dyno it right away. It might need a couple revisions, but I will re-dyno it as soon as its safe to. I will keep everyone updated.

Just thinking outside the box on this but everyone knows the top cover of the boss manifold is just held on by double sided 3m tape right??? With the raised lettering and ribs removed, I would think there wouldn't be a need to lower the engine or notch the inside of the hood. Maybe I'm wrong.

So what you're saying is the white portion of the intake shown in your pics (or the ribbed/lettered portion on an out-of-the-box unit) is just held on with double-sided tape?

Let us know if it fits with the top cover removed, or you still have to trim the hood!

If I remember correctly. The top cover EASILY adds 1/4"-1/2" to the height of the manifold.

That's what it looks like...but I haven't seen any firm numbers on how much clearance we need...other than it's more than a 1/4". Most are using the 3/4" drop settings on the adjustable mounts.

Im putting mine on this week. I dont think removing the cover is gonna make it clear. The point where it hits is the very back lip. Most likely just gonna cut a small rectangle in the bottotm of my hood then put the insulator back over it, and should fit fine.

similar to what this guy did. Dont see what the big deal is. just put a little clear coat paint over the edges so it doesnt rust and just put the insulator pad back over and it should fit snug. Dont see an issue with the composite manifold actually touching the pad. Shouldnt make any vibration noise i wouldnt think. We'll see.

got my preliminary tune from Lund today. They said they set the rev limiter to 8200 :eyebulge::eyebulge::eyebulge: They said after a couple logs they usually drop it down to 8000 with the final tune revision. Caught me off gaurd. I was thinkin like 7700.

Anywayz I will be doing the full install on next tuesday, and hopefully getting it dyno'd later in the week. Cant wait to see the results as well as other people results.:ford:

Great deal! Can't wait! I had to put a little notch in my hood also, you may not need to go as big as that one, I used clay over the back of the intake to get a reference point and made a little bigger due to the rubber engine mount movement, the passenger side rear needed a little more room since the engine torques up on that side.

Are you saying you needed to clearance your WR hood with the CJ intake?!
