Auto trans longevity

I understand they take above but I've noticed they run fairly hot at 200-205 in my neck or the woods, even on the highway it's like 195-200. Wondering if those are good temps to maintain on a performance auto? I believe the car already has a tranny cooler.

I would be prepared to change out the ATF at a sooner interval then recommended by any manual todate .
This undertaking will certainly affect the longevity of the 6R80 Transmission .
I am thinking about replacing the factory install of ATF with Redline comparable ATF at or around 30.000 miles or sooner .. :cheers:

You mean 3000 or 30000? What the go to fluid on these after the flush?

We do not want to flush these transmissions . An extraction of the fluid or drain and fill is prefered .
We will have to invest time into researching the proper change out process for the 6R80E transmission . I am pretty sure it is a sealed Automatic transmission .

You know it states nonseviceable by the home mechanic owner ......we do get a capacity chart though ..I am pretty sure there is a procedure that must be followed concerning trans temp for a refill .. a Beast ah Yeah !

In "normal" driving conditions.

I suggest dropping the pan, replacing the filter, and filling it up every 30k, and that's overkill.

Make sure you use Motorcraft transmission fluid specific for this transmission as it has a special additive to reduce noise.

The transmissions are rock solid.

I avoid going by the suggest services in the owner's manual majority of the time. Might be more expensive but I rather invest into preventative measures.

Yup! I forgot what it said on the owners manual of my TBSS but it started shifting hard at 60k and my buddy that works on GMs said "you crazy?! Do it every 20k at most". But then again the 4l70e is garbage compared to ours. But motorcraft is the fluid of choice, sometimes aftermarket offers something better so I figured id ask.

No, that's the torque value..... u can leave yours loose if you'd like.

Do you people not understand that the values listed in the owner's manual are arrived at by hundreds of engineers who have put thousands of hours into testing parts, fluids, assemblies, and hundreds of thousands of miles on vehicles?

Yes - the owners manual states 150K transmission fluid interval, for normal driving conditions. The transmission and transmission fluid is designed and engineered for this. Is it beneficial to do it sooner? Yes. Is it necessary? No.

Oil changes are now recommended at 10K.

Engines and transmissions are built now better than ever. Better materials, better design, tighter tolerances, all of that allows the longer duration.

The push for longer maintenance intervals comes from the consumer. Because, guess what, nobody likes taking their vehicle in for service.

As far as the lug nut torque, no, you will not warp, snap off, or seize anything. The product is DESIGNED for this, hence why the spec is what it is.
