Two issues that need to be addressed.
1. They wiggle a bit. This is because the hole for the attachment pin is slightly too large. A decrease in diameter should solve this problem.

2. They don't activate the higher you go. I think this is because of the contact placement and size. A slight length decrease at the top portion should solve this issue.

3. Paddles needs to be bent a bit more to follow the contour of the steering wheel better.

Maybe angular bends so they are closer to the wheel at the top and bottom like you see on some high end rides...

It will change the fulcrum point of the pull on the lever.

YES, you must follow the contour, equal spacing from the wheel is important.
