So a lady from Automotive Testing & Development Services called today as a result of a form I filled out a couple months ago volunteering my Mustang for testing. A google search of the caller's phone number indeed directed me to their website http://www.automotivetesting.com. Their tech is coming to my workplace tomorrow morning to plug some device into a port located under the steering wheel to collect emissions data. The process takes 10 minutes, and they hand me a check for $100.

I live in a suburb of Detroit and received a letter from Ford and Roush asking to use my previous Mustang for emissions testing.

They offered a Fusion loaner, $100, full tank of gas, and a wash and vacuum, and would pick up and drop off my car at home, work, or I could go to their facility. They said they would need my car 1-2 weeks.

Unfortunately my car had been tuned and was disqualified from their testing.

Interesting. I checked out the website. Are they doing this for Ford? What was the form you filled out?

Ford apparently is their client. I do remember receiving the form in the mail stating I could be chosen to participate and be compensated. I had to provide the VIN and mileage. Guess the car met the criteria they were looking for, esp living in CA with their strict emissions... :shrug:

I think she did ask if I had any mods, but can't remember for sure.

Like I said, $100 is laughable if you lose your car for 1 - 2 weeks. Fusion loaner? 'Wash' and vacuum? Full tank of gas? All of it is fluff.

If you had said $1000 / week compensation, then I might listen. $100 is peanuts considering that they take your car away and let it be driven by strangers in whatever test they may decide to run. Maybe they'll use it to drive to the Taco Bell for lunch. They will be adding their bodily oils and fluids and other dermal detritus to your car.
