Guages on a Base GT

Ok. so idk if this was answered. I have clicked around and haven't seen anything so sorry if this is already been answered.
does anybody know if its possible to retrofit the gauges that come on the PP car onto a base GT? I had the trim pieces off yesterday and we have a vent in the middle and I didn't see a wiring harness. mind you I didn't try and move a lot around.
also, does anybody have a part number for the trim piece that I would need to replace (the one that has the gauge cut outs)

sooo. i read through those threads. basically people just quoting prices and part numbers which helps. but nobody that actually did it.
does it require more wiring? is the harness there you just have to remove the A/C vents? another forum member asked if the wiring was already there and nobody had an answer. anyone else know? if anybody has actually done this, please chime in. im not the best when it comes to wiring and electrical stuff. im a noob.

Regardless if there is a wire harness or not, you still have to buy all those parts to make it fit and look like the factory option...the reason no one has done that is because it's way too much money. Why do that for some crappy gauges? Aftermarket will release vent mounted gauge pods soon enough, or you can DIY it yourself. Either way cheaper adn better because you still retain air flow.

I am interested in this for three reasons.
1. I want the different trims because IMO the base GT and V6 trim are the ugliest. the PP trim is a lot better looking.
2. Out of curiosity to see if i can ever have any hope of getting rid of this ugly trim. (vinyl wrap may be the way to go)
3. Trufiber/Trucarbon will be releasing carbon fiber dash trim kits soon and i would like to get one. however, the pictures I have seen have gauge cut outs not a third vent.
I have ordered a gauge from AM that should be here by Friday and hopefully I will have it installed on Saturday. I also wonder if gauges from different manufacturers can be retrofit onto this.

Well the guys at Trufiber said that they simply developed it because their car is the PP, after SEMA they might develope one for the base trim.

I am pretty certain that the base trim finish is simply a vinyl as well. All my past vehicles were at least. If not, vinyl wrap is a very cheap effective solution.

I personally think that the base trim looks better than the plain silver trim of the premiums. You could take that gauge you bought and mount it in the vent and it would look better than the PP IMO.

*EDIT* is the plain silver the base color for the dash or is it the swirled metal finish? I have the base but mine is the swirled metal finish...

no its not swirled metal. thats the one i want. mine is almost like an organized speckle. the swirl is the premium and the silver stuff is the 50th anniversary i think. i have a picture but its from further away and it looks silver. i cant even find a good picture on google haha. it doesnt look very good to me. ill probably run the single gauge for now and when the carbon piece is available, ill retrofit my own gauges onto it.

Why not get an N-gauge, even if you dont want to tune, and it can show like 6 gauges at once and has a vent mount for $15 extra. Just use it in gauge mode

It's like $500 total. Still cheaper even if you dont want to tune; and you still get tunes to use later on after the warranty is up if you wanted to.

Oh ok, yeah like I said, I have the swirled finish on mine (even though it's the base...also my seats have a special stitch pattern in the center parts) so I can see why you would want it. I think the silver is just way too plain.

I really want that carbon piece too :/

if i bought the ngauge it would be just to tune the car and data log. i do not want to put it in the center A/C vent. i like the look of an analog gauge over a digital one. ill figure something out and post a how to in the forum in like a week.
