If I'm only going to do an intake and exhaust upgrade on the power side and will not be messing around with much tuning is there a strong reason I should spend the $150 premium for the new ngauge/lund tuner package?

I may never deviate from the 93 octane/intake/exhaust tune on the car, maybe adding headers down the road but that's it. I'm kind of a "set it and forget it" person as far as tuning goes. I will not make a special mounting spot so I can see the readout all the time, etc.

Any input/advice welcome!

Nguage, even if you are not mounting it, a lot of people are have quirky issues with the SCT.

Both options are great as they can hold the same tune from Lund Racing. The benefits of the ngauge over the SCT are that it can datalog more of the parameters they want to see when dialing in the car and that it's a display gauge for most of the parameters that the car see's.

Although you said you're a Ron Popeil type of guy that would most likely "set it and forget it" the parameter display portion may end up being of interest later on down the line.

To me I've always used the SCT devices. I would flash the car and put the programmer away and it would never come out until I needed to flash the car again. With the nGauge being so small and offering all of the cool display options I would probably end up mounting it and keeping it visible for me to use.

We have both devices in stock and are Lund Racing's largest dealer so if there's anything we can do for you please feel free to give us a call.

Thanks, Jared

I went with SCT. If you go with Lund ngauge you can only use Lund tunes from now on. SCT is open to many tuners. Also you can get a SCT with 3 canned tunes for $298 on eBay. I did the 93 octane tune and can tell a difference with my minor mods and a few car specific settings. Very easy to update and use.

I don't see it any cheaper than about $399 on ebay, are you sure you got it for $299?
Also, the tuner is more important than the device for me, I will only use either Bama or Lund on the car based on what I know at this point. I read that the ngauge is HP based and that may drive more tuners to it in the short term.

I may end up getting the ngauge if its truly as awesome as some of the guys say but I'll wire it into somewhere discrete, under the armrest, etc.

Why waste money on an Ebay tuner even if you could get it for $299.00? You're getting canned tunes with it.

Might as well just purchase a Lund Racing custom tuned one from us for $499.00 shipped and be done. If you get one for $299 with canned tunes and want a Lund Tune later on it's going to cost you another $200.00 for the tune.

So make the right choice from the beginning and you won't have to waste time later on down the line.

This, with the Lethal Performance tunes they ask for your vehicle's specific mods including tire size, exhaust, intake, etc etc. So although its not a 'dyno tune' its as close as you can possibly get without spending $750 for a custom dyno session.

You get what you pay for.

Yes, $298 last Monday. I had it by Thursday and loaded the tune and changes from stock on Friday. No problems or issues.

Vendors sell out then relist. Two wereselling at that price last week. If I decide to make more aggressive mods later I can buy the tune I want then.

I learned long ago not to get in bed with a single vendor.

Calling out OKC #1 spot after axle back install.
I went with SCT and a custom dyno tune.
I am happy with the tune, but I will still be picking up an AED tune for comparison.

Does lund charge for updates to the tunes? IE I have a blower on an otherwise stock motor and then 3 months down the line I add a set of long tubes is there going to be another charge to get the updated tune for the headers?

Nope. Only extra fee is going from n/a to power adder, as I understand it.
