i'm 37. i learned over the years from driving bimmers (i had 8 of them) that all the luxo stuff didn't satisfy me as much as having a bigger engine so i started getting the v8s they offered.

after some reliability issues, i took the plunge and tried the turbo lyfe out with a 2011 WRX and going full bolt ons with it on e85. i did not miss the luxo features from the bimmers, maybe because it was fully loaded with nav leather HIDs, etc.

at that point, i realized that i value performance over luxury. the only reason i went fully loaded was because one of the features i required was part of the limited pack, the HIDs. i didn't care much for the leather, heated seats, climate control and the moonroof, and the NAV once i figured out Waze was better.

it took me 20 years of driving to figure out what i really want out of my car and i'm glad i finally figured it out.

Have given lots of thought on it. I'm finally financially viable to afford one, as when I was looking to buy one earlier on in the year, a new GT was out of my budget. But my V6 has grown on me and unless the magical raise happens again, I'll stick to my V6 for awhile or at least until the S550's come out with a new face-lift model. Then I might take the plunge
I will admit I had given thought to trading up to the GT. I've since now changed my mind. I like the turbo:D. Maybe I will swap to the GT when the face-lift is done.

I think a lot of EB buyers like me are on the fence between the EB or GT. You can get a loaded EB for the same price of a barebones GT. It boils down to what you want out of the car.

In the end, I chose the extra toys/luxury as it's a daily drive... Not a weekend or track toy.

I would also go GT if I didn't have to shell out another 5-6K upfront to get all the toys as well with the premium trim. Gas, is a moot point... At least for me.
Bingo. I fall into this category as well.

Plus, I also think the EB attracted many non-Mustang buyers like myself. I was in the market for car that's fun as hell to drive for a decent price. I think the EB fit the mold perfectly. It wasn't a necessity for me to have the V8. If the premium GT was a bit cheaper I probably would have went that route.

Also, if you were a previous GT owner and thought the Ecoboost would satisfy the V8 urge, that's where you went wrong. Should've gotten the GT from the beginning. The Ecoboost is not a V8 replacement and never will be.

To some of you, the Ecoboost isn't a real Mustang. But to me it is, and anyone else who isn't a car enthusiast won't know the difference either. I do sometimes wonder what it would be like to daily drive the GT, but it's okay. For a daily driver this car is powerful enough stock let alone modified.

Congrats OP, enjoy the new ride! :ford:

I am going to "guess" most of the people who are commenting on the 5.0 vs. the EB are young. When I was young, I had the same feelings and always had the V8, even in Non-Ford cars (Firebird Trans Ams- before the bat mobile look) But, now that I am older at 70, I wanted a more relaxed Mustang, but one that still had the power, if not the sound. 99% of my driving is on the Interstate and on rural roads in and around the Black Hills of South Dakota. The EB is the perfect car for this. I did a significant amount of research before I bought it, and found I just didn't need the HP of the 5.0 anymore. This is one of the nicest Mustangs I have owned and when Ford bumps the engine up to a twin turbo 3.5 V6, I will then look to trade. Until then, there are a lot of tunes out there for those that feel the need the speed :)
Twin turbo 3.5 V6 in a Mustang would be nice. I would be all over that.

Sorry guys but a twin turbo v6 in a mustang isn't gonna happen. Ford is committed to the 5.0 for good. They will keep the v8 in trucks for sure and it will stay in the pony car as well.

If you look at the Ecoboost section of this forum and then look at the V6 section you would see that is just not true. There is a far greater percentage of ecoboost owners who care about performance than V6 owners, and for good reason given the mod-ability of the Ecoboost.

How many time slips are posted in the V6 thread of the dragstrip section?

Of course some people get the EB for premium features but even if the V6 had them it would still be missing 40ft-lb peak torque and 10hp
It has more to do with the V6 owners performance upgrade options being so extremely limited! The GT has a plethora of upgrades and the EB is becoming a booming aftermarket. The V6 guys have a hard time getting a tune and CAI. And to your second point the stock performance numbers are pretty much a wash when comparing a stock 4 banger to the V6. Modding is what widens the gap between the two. But modding is not a 2015 V6 owners real option unfortunately.

Exactly!

While I've always liked Mustangs, I never thought about buying one for whatever reason. I honestly went to the dealership with the intent of trading in my 13 Fusion for a Focus ST or Fiesta ST (fast, nimble, and four doors since I have two small kids). After test driving both, I was dead set on the Fiesta ST3. While we we inside starting to go over financing and my trade, I just kept staring at the Mustang in the showroom. My wife noticed this and asked why I didn't test drive one.

My initial response was overly responsible. "Um, we have two children that are under two years old." Without hesitation, she reminds me that she drives a Honda Odyssey and that if I want a sporty car, I should get a real sports car. I proceeded to test drive one and the rest is history....

Congrats on the trade in....im jealous, i currently have a v6 and while its such a great and fun car to drive, i really really wish i had a GT. I took a big hit ($5000) since i traded another car in for the v6 stang and the 22k price tag attracted me. If i decide to trade in my v6 for a GT right now id take another hit, plus i dnt think the bank or the dealer would even accept a trade with such high negative equity. Ugh i hate that feeling of regret.
