i have a noticeable vibration even on the stock shifter. Even in neutral you can look at it and see it shaking during idle, during driving it doesnt seem so bad. Concerned that if I get the MGW shifter and the direct mounting its going to be way worse

Barton will be announcing their solid mount shifter any day now and they are supposed to have some added features to help isolate the vibration.

I wouldn't say it vibrates but you can feel the engine working. I love the feeling it makes you more in the tune with the vehicle. Doesn't make any noise or look like it vibrates. Once you take the stock shifter out you release why it's so crappy lol

Vibrations you will feel only when you have your hand on it.. It's not a buzz feeling in your hand, you just feel the power thumping of the 302 :) .. Sound None ..Cabin sound None ..

Purchased mine back in May, had to wait because it was on back order. Received it and then had to wait for mechanic at local Ford Dealership. I originally purchased the Ford Racing STS, but after discussing with mechanic he turned me on to MGW.
I had it installed on Monday (7/27) and after a couple of days, here my initial thoughts;

• Grouping is extremely tight, shifting from gear to gear, not as much movement as before. Instead of a hand movement of 2 inches from 1st to 2nd, it’s more like half of an inch.

• Barely any neutral. In the stock, I had “wiggle room” when I was in neutral, now, more like 2cm. Friend says that will loosen up in time

• Reverse, also very tight to get into. Have to really push down and left. Again, told this will loosen also

• Love the feel. Original felt like rubber bushings rubbing together, was kind of concerned that a piece would break off! Not anymore. Feels strong, secure, metal to metal, like you expect. Doesn’t feel like anything is going to break off!

• Short…(DUH), but really, the height of the shaft is about 1 - 1 ½ shorter. I have big hands, so my hands are now rubbing on the leather within the cubby of the shifter.

• With the original, kept going from 2nd to 5th all the time. Not anymore. I think I’ve hit 1st to 4th, once, but again, more my fault being a “Lazy Susie” in shifting

Overall, I am happy with the install and purchase. I will come back once I Have a few more miles under her belt.

Daily Driver…Aggressive!

How much did the Ford dealership charge you?

I bought one over the weekend...just like you, its 3-4 weeks on backorder.

I plan on doing Royal Purple when I get it installed.

Heard nothing but great things with people doing the trans swap with RP

yea I did RP already but on stock shifter, it really smoothened it up. The stock fluid is so thin in hotter weather and doesnt coat well. Im sure it will be noticeable even after a shifter upgrade
