I pulled into the local grocery store this morning, and just happened to park next to a guy loading his "14 Vette" with groceries. We got to talking, and he did say he really thought the new Mustangs were great looking cars. We then started talking about all the cool features our cars had. After a couple of of min., he then mentioned a feature on the Vette that just Blew My Mind.
With the flip of a switch, he can change the sound of the exhaust. He demonstrated this to me, and I must say, it was the most awesome thing I have ever seen on a car. First he revved it in normal mode. Well, that was Intimidating enough. But then he switched to "sport" mode.....Revved it again..And.....WOW. What a difference. it sounded down right "Ferocious".
Is that cool as hell or what? Has anyone else here experienced a demo from a Vette like that? I only have an Eco, but still what a great feature that would be on all Mustangs huh?

You're way behind brotha! haha It's already available for purchase from Roush & will be standard on all stage 3 Roush Mustangs. Pretty pricey kit tho.

Some higher end sports cars have this feature. I agree I wish I had that too. Loud when solo and quiet when with the wife. Best of both worlds. I see this possibly being standard on mustangs in the future.

Yeah, I guess I am. I honestly never knew this existed till this morning. But then, the last performance car I had was a 96 Lincoln Mark VIII. I don't really know if that qualifies as a muscle car, but it sure was fast. And back then I was so impressed with that little Info screen. Looking back, that is "flintstone technology". Ha

My favorite version of the adjustable factory exhaust is the Jaguar F Type R.

When I had my charger, lots of guys had these on their Mopars, also known as "electric cutouts"

It's called dual mode exhaust on the Vette. It's been available on the Vette since 2006 when the C6Z06 was introduced. The mufflers have 2 outlets, one that goes through the muffler like normal, and one that bypasses the muffler and goes straight through and is normally closed with a vacuum operated butterfly valve. Once the car hits 3500rpm the butterfly valves open allowing the exhaust to bypass the mufflers and get loud. It was a very popular mod to install a "mild to wild" switch that allowed the driver to manually open or close the butterfly valves whenever they wanted.

It's basically the same as having electric cutouts installed, which have been around forever.

A Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 from 1991 had active exhaust! That tech has been around forever

Someone needs to do a kit that, unlike Roush's, costs a LOT less than $2,500. I could see doing a suitcase delete with stock mufflers as "normal," and a muffler bypass as "sport." From the videos I have heard, that would be pretty "sporty."

Cool, too bad that feature wasn't on the GT Premium ... maybe down the road it will be.
Maybe, certainly as an after-market mod.

I like in that video where the announcer says "this is normal mode, you can drive it around at 6am without getting your neighbor's all riled up." And I'm thinking "You must have some car-loving neighbors."

2016 Camaros will have this feature.

Also the GT350 will I believe.
