BMW's M-Division's newly arrived M suspension in the current M4, but on a more proper platform in the M2...?

These two oddball cars are more directed competitors than One would think..! The are both also expected to be modestly equipped for about $55k.


Boy, not in a long time... have I been anticipating such cars. Such track stars..

I know I am not alone.

Well, that specific pic is a cross between the M2 R and the Vision. I added a link to the article in the OP. (But there are plenty of spy pics of the M2 out)

Not much is really known about the M2. But around 375hp/400TQ @ 3,300lbs.

Here are some better pics of the M2. It will have the same fascia as that concept in the above picture but it won't be nearly as wide. It will be wider than the standard 2 series tho.

The M2 is definitely an intriguing car. It won't have the performance of the GT350 (which will be very close to the M4) but its more compact size, better balance and precision will matter more to a lot of people. Not to mention, with the M2, you get the prestige and quality of a BMW, which will also matter for a bunch of people (myself included). For me though, the N55 engine just isn't special enough for me to really want the car. Now if it had a slightly detuned S55 (from the M3/4) I'd be all over it. But BMW won't do that because it would eat into M3/4 sales too much, and the performance disparity would be too close for comfort. I still haven't completely ruled the M2 out and I am following it quite closely (not as obsessively as the GT350 tho ). I like that it will have an optional DCT, which will reduce the gap in performance vs the GT350 a bit. Can't wait for the reveal of it in a few weeks. Exciting times to be a car enthusiast indeed.

A detuned S55 would have been great on the m2, or, even a bigger turbo. Just think of the after market potential for very little cash had they done either.

I expect the GT350 to best the M4 on track let alone a M2. Right now I find the GT350 the more intriguing of the two, sticker price vs sticker price. If you tack on a 10k plus ADM on the GT350 give me a M4 all day all night.

Itll be just as unreliable as all the other m cars i service. But im sure itll do well on the track. Thats what m cars are generally built for.

Car is going to be a blast save for the maint $ that will be required to keep it performing flawlessly ( bit of an oxymoron) but if you've ever owned a Bimmer you get it! That much power/torque in 33-3400 lbs will put a smile on your face. I'm sure the price will be right around 57-60k optioned out.

Im in the business of making money. It only makes sense i deal with unreliable shitboxes. Doesnt it? If i worked at toyota id just be dealing with regular maintenance and making little money. The money is in the unreliable cars. Think about it. :-)

People crave what they think is a status symbol. People want status, buy super cars, fools buy bmws thinking they are getting german quality. Our leather isnt even real leather. Lol. 40% of the car parts arent german made. Our carbon fiber, the same kind we charge 300 dollars for a mirror cap for the side mirrors thats made in MEXICO. Our cars are the pinnacle of a polished turd. We use sub par quality parts that are designed to fail without warning or tons of years with zero issues.

Quality bmws havent been made since the e30.
