I would be guilty of this kind of joy ride too. I'd have come back and taken him for a spin in it!

Any points of interest as I don't have 18 minutes to watch the whole video?
4:02 eats my gum
8:55 uses my train horn for the first time
9:55 train horns in mechanic bay
10:35 again
11:41 the beginning of the crazy old man talking to himself and train horns

So I watched that whole thing. What camera do you use? I would love to have that especially because I had a serious issue with my g35 once that left me stranded and I knew something happened and I literally couldn't do $h!t. And I'm still salty even typing it out.

Sounds like the dude either caught a good 3rd gear scratch or ground 3rd on that first pass, not for sure which :headbang: Thanks for posting this :clap2::clap2::lol::lol:

1.7 miles "excessive"?:lol::lol::lol:

Umm, no, that is not "excessive" :frusty: although that would be subjective.

Those were just the miles that were put on from the FIRST time I left the car to get detailed with the shop that is less than 100 meters away from the dealer where I left it. I didn't complain about that since those miles were not "excessive" although I just found it odd to put on that many miles for a shop so close but oh well.

My question was regarding what others have done if they picked up the car with a lot of miles for a service situation that did not warrant putting on a lot of miles in case the same thing happened to me on the SECOND time I left the car to get worked on for some factory overspray (which I picked up today) and not the FIRST time in which I described above.

Meh, funny thread though...

Dealership had my car for about a week and put a total off 220miles on the car, the body shop is only 15 miles away. It was getting serviced for paint damage prior to buying the vehicle ( dealership took care of it, out their own pocket) rattles inside the cabin, alignment issues and other minor stuff. When I went to pick up my mustang, I was running late for work, I didn't notice how much miles they put on it till after work.By then, dealership was already closed and I had time to cool down till the next day. I wanted to call and make a big deal about it, but they could've easily said "you had the car overnight, how do we know you didn't put those miles on the car yourself" so I decided to let it go and learn from my mistake. A month later I took the car in again to the same dealership, and first thing I did was take a picture of the current miles and also tell the service advisor of my pervious encounter with them. A day later get the car back with no miles added to my car..

That's life, I learned from my mistake and it won't happen again.
I had a similar experience recently (over only 40 "unnecessary" miles, though; and I believe it was a false alarm) and it is a crappy feeling. :brokenheart: All sorts of scenarios went through my head, worse than just 'Where the hell did this fool take my car?!'. I am really sorry this happened to you, but I admire how maturely you handled it. :cool:

I'm a technician (not Ford) When you say you have a rattle don't be surprised if you have a lot of miles on it when you get it back. Its hard to pin point a rattle and we have to drive it a lot to figure out where its coming from and also if we fixed the rattle.

Guy with the 18 min video, They chewed your gum and blew your horn who cares. Wasted 18 min of my life thinking they were doing burn outs or beating the shit out of your car.
