I don't like the knobs with the adapters, think it takes the look away from the knob.
agree. way too high. can you even grab the reverse ring with that?

it has an engine!
I installed the Boomba Racing knob today. If you just try to screw it on it will not align itself correctly when screwed all the way down. You have to follow their directions and heat the knob with a blow dryer/heat gun for a few minutes. Then you crank it down until you get it into the perfect position. I assume heating the knob softens the brass inside allowing you to tap your own threads deeper into the knob. Perfect fit, looks great, feels great. Solid!
Installed my Boomba Racing shift knob on Saturday, I ordered on the 4th and got it on the 6th..pretty quick since I chose the cheapest shipping.

Anyway, the ford knob definitely was heavier than what I would expect for a stocker but the boomba had a noticeably heavier feel to it. Overall the shifts feel good, the extra weight gives a little more leverage when going into gear and it helps to get through some of the notchy feeling/resistance. Ive noticed that I seem to be rowing through the gears a little easier and shifting seems to be somewhat "smoother".. I am glad I went with it over the 50 year knob for sure. Just make sure you have some locktite as the shift pattern on the ball doesnt line up perfect if you thread it on as tight as it will go. I also found out that a lockwasher thats big enough to fit over the threads but small enough to not hit the edges of the reverse lockout (when pulled up) can work too. it just kind of sits on top of the non-threaded part and it provides enough tension so that the knob stays in place even if not threaded all the way on. The washer did not impede the lockout mechanism at all so it worked out great

Boomba all the way. I thought my MGW shifter was pretty smooth and was, until I topped it off with the Boomba knob. Now this is how shifting is supposed to feel. I just screwed it on and it lined up perfectly, plus is easy to touch temperature wise on hot days.
Yes, I have it on my GT and it fits fine. Just make sure you follow the directions and heat the knob up with a hair dryer or heat gun before cranking it down.

My favorite part of the Boomba knob is the weight and coating. It is heavier than stock, which is nice, but it doesn't get super hot in the summer like other metal knobs. The shell feels nice, not plasticy.

The logo is very small and is obscured once it is installed in the car since it hides underneath the curve of the knob itself.

The quote from DeadEye is exactly what I was looking for, as I am pairing this with a MGW race spec short throw. Thanks!

I wanted to keep the the OEM lockout, but this one is superior to the Barton design. Solely because it hard mounts to the trans.
I actually don't really care for the reverse lock out collar. It feels kinda cheap to me and it is a pain to get a shift knob that fits with it. Do you have any pictures of this short shifter installed?

Here you go.

The MGW uses a decorative jam nut as can be seen below the knob. This allows you to get the pattern perfect without heating or loctite. While this is a huge plus, I do prefer the pull up lockout. More BS, but it's what I'm comfortable with. I would've gone Barton, but the MGW has a much better design IMO.

I think this looks much more subtle. The lock out on ours is too bulky imo. I noticed raceseng and lathewerks makes reverse lock outs for the WRX that are smaller and nicer looking. Wish they'd do the same for ours. I do agree the MGW has a better design.

Yeah, I'm a little concerned that the boomba is going to look bulky and out of place now.
