MGW install and review .. After watching the install video twice I chose to remove the exhaust and drive shaft to makes the install easier ..Taking out the drive shaft was a job all by itself but it sure make putting the shifter in easy .. I smashed my finger pretty bad and that made it very hard to install the rubber boot that comes with the shifter ..I had a friend come over and help me with that part .. The boot was the hardest part of the hole install , everything else was a simple ..

I have to say the MGW shifter is very well built , it's almost a shame you can see it after it's installed ..I went with the MGW white ball with the 6 speed pattern in black ... Looks right at home in the Mustang ..

Driving ... I went to local car show tonight ( all Mustang show ) ..Shifting the car now feels like a top loader ..No more slop , dead solid shifts ..No NV at all ... In fact it makes less NV than the stock shifter and that did surprise me ..Anyone thinking about a MGW Race Spec shifter think no more !!! Just get it !!!

The no NV is very attractive to me. Thanks for taking the time to post.

Would you recommend this shifter for daily driving, not necessarily for track or racing?

I'm considering getting one, if it's worth it

I would. I also have one and it shifts beautify. I like it way better than the factory shifter for everyday driving.

You had me at top loader:lol::D

This is the shifter I want. I think MGW will do the install, correct? Wonder what they charge?

I've heard that if you go to their shop they'll do it for free, not sure if it's a military deal or if they do it for everyone. I've never seen it advertised, but I've read about it a few times on various forums.

True story, I pm'd them and they said they would do it for free in Augusta (which is only about an hour from where I live). This will be the shifter I go with, without a doubt, when time comes!

Free install WOW !!! That is cool ... As far as a DD you will love it ... Took me no time to get used to the reverse .. Pushing down , over and up seems normal for me ..

The MGW shifter makes the M82 trans feel like a real transmission ...No more guessing on what gear it's going into when speed shifting ...Much easier to skip shift for DD .. If you keep your hand on the shifter you can feel the engine running and I like that because it feels like a real 60s and 70s Muscle car .. Much like my 69 Boss 429 car with a ford top loader 4 speed and Hurst Comp plus shifter ..

Yeah, I figure this is at least a $250 install at any shop, so that is money right off the top in my eyes! And for the company that is most familliar with the product to put it on is the way to go if you aren't going to diy.

And an fyi, Barton will install for free as well, but I think they are located in NY.

Thanks for confirming this. I have been to their shop a couple times when I had my 03 Cobra. Looks like my '15 will be making a trip up there for their shifter and install. George is the man:cheers:

Traveled to Barton 2 weeks ago (3 hrs.) to have them install the shifter. Well worth the trip. Dave and his installer are world class people. And, oh yes, love the shifter!

Getting a new shifter as well... Like the majority, Barton or MGW.

I don't track or race...would you guys still recommend this for a DD?

I really want to get this shifter as I hate the stock one. I'm constantly getting locked out of a gear at WOT high rpm. Mainly when shifting into 4th but a little bit of third too. My only concern is my dealer giving me a hard time if something were to go wrong with the transmission.
