The new Consumer Reports, for this month, compates the Mustang (ecoboost and GT) to the Challenger.
Two comments caught my eye: "The Pirelli P Zero tires take forever to heat up for optimumgrip so we recommend getting performance all-season tires for real world driving"
Is this correct?

They also said that the manual transmission and clutch were excellent, unusual for a car with this torque

The PP Pzeros are a summer tire, so in cool/cold weather they do take forever to heat up and don't grip well at all. But in warm weather like we're having now, the grip is incredible.

Yes all season tires are way better if you plan to drive in the cold weather. I don't think the clutch is all that great in the manual but I like the shifter.

The Pirelli's are not that great. Much better options out there.

Yes, winter in FL or AZ is fake winter.

Agreed.

Anywhere that doesn't have at least a couple months of snow on the ground is also borderline. You can get by with summer tires only if you only have ice a few days a year or something like that.

You're probably right but just an FYI, my 2015 GT with the 20" wheels and Pirelli P Zeros came with a little supplement in the manual that says not to drive the car below 40 degrees (I think it was 40) because damage or cracking could occur. The rubber compound is just not made for temps that low.

That being said, I bought mine in February and I live in Baltimore, MD. While I would never drive my Mustang in the snow with summer tires, I did drive it when roads were clear. Didn't have any problems but also didn't push the car or tires that hard. Definitely loving those tires in the summer though!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the standard 18" wheels and the upgraded 19" wheels have the Pirelli P-Zero All-Season tires, NOT the summer tires, right? Once these tires go, I'll need to decide if I want to stick with summer or go to All-Season. Frankly, I'm leaning towards more summer tires. It's not like I would be driving this car in the snow even if I had All-Season tires!

positive remarks about the manual transmission. Shocked. Good to hear once in a while.
