So let me ask a question or two I've posed before in other threads but never got a substantive answer to. Does Ford's leadership really care? If they do, how do we know it? Have they made any public pronouncements that they're aware of QC issues and are working like hell to fix them? It just seems mind- boggling to me that Ford would tolerate letting down a halo brand like Mustang with poor final assembly, shoddy craftsmanship, or defective parts or anything like that.

The brands that do well with Consumer Reports are the ones who take customer service to the extreme...even though Honda and Toyota might actually build a lemon or two, if one is identified, they are on top of it and have a replacement in the customer's hands before they can write a negative experience on an owner's forum ;) They also buy back lemons and analyze them to find out why the taste quality turned sour on that particular car...and use it to improve the breed.

Ford? Not so much...they'd rather you flail it out with your dealer and post your negative experiences on a forum. Of course, if you're a Consumer Reports subscriber, and you happen to own a Ford, we already know what you'll be marking on your annual car purchase survey in that case

Ford (and GM and Chrysler) apparently haven't learned that lesson yet...too bad

P.S. I'm appalled at the lack of customer surveys that came from Ford when I bought my 2015 'stang...they ask plenty of questions about the people who sell and service the car, but very few about the car itself. GM is WAAAY better in that department, and you can imagine how Honda and Toyota are....

For real

lol @ the paint / trim score
I can attest to that since my trunk lid is out of alignment and I have a couple of paint issues myself. I am kind of disappointed that Ford misses these things. I'm reading about plenty of issues with F-Series as well so hopefully over time Ford can get these issues fixed.

I am less concerned about parts failing, than dealerships taking too long to make repairs. Dig through the Issues section, and there are cars that languish on dealer lots for weeks, due to slow tear down, and then parts "backorder". One guy had a dual mass flywheel (v6) fail, and he is having to wait 3+ week for flywheel bolts which are on backorder. :paddle:

Also, clutch failures are a gray zone. Was it factory defect or driver error? I think Ford should split the costs because its hard to prove either way. If a clutch repair is $2000, each party can pay $1000. Provides incentive for both sides.

Of course the big question is whether Chevy and Dodge do any better with QC and warranty repair.

Once again, you have to wonder about Ford's engineering...

This is hardly an issue on most new cars. This is because the body panels should be designed to fit on right the first time (same for the windows!), and idiot proof. Heck, you should have robots putting them on :frusty:

And to think it's being built in a former Mazda plant...(Flat Rock is where US market 626's and a few other models were built!) Someone at Ford needs to read Edward Deming's books again (Deming is the guy who taught the Japanese about Quality Control after World War II...) ;)

Ford has great sales why would they care about addressing owner issues?

I also haven't had any issues except for the cheap paint and Atrocious panel gaps/alignment. Unfortunately every Ford is assembled with gap tolerances for small airplanes to fit into

How does it get all red for every category on the 2015 used car section, yet get a solid black overall? What crack are they smoking?

Hi, I've owned Mustang GT's since 1989 to present, 5.0L - 4.6L, all manual trans & hardtops. ALL VERY RELIABLE & DEPENDABLE !!!
To be fair, my 2001 GT was POOR quality build, weak paint , bad audio, & peeling leather seats at under 30K miles. That was the POOR management team at Ford using inferior quality materials at that time, replaced in 2003.
My 2004 GT, Screaming Yellow , Prem. Coupe, 5 spd. manual, has been a DREAM CAR, PERFECT build & reliable. Now has current 111K Miles, original brakes, clutch, no problems. LOVE HER !!!

I agree there shouldn't be some of the QC issues they are having especially on the 40K+ GTs.

CR though has a weird system...you get all those great red circles and then a black for reliability...not based off those....
