Does anyone have any resources or videos of the sound difference between the gear options?

Hard to get a feel for how loud the vehicle would be idling with the standard gear option. I can't seem to find any GOOD videos other than those who have the helical gear head unit like AdrianMAK's:

Would love to find a similar video demonstrating the idle of the standard gear head unit.

I'll be daily driving the Mustang and don't want to listen to the "marbles in a can" or "wheel bearing sound" of the standard gears when sitting at a stoplight. Kind of like the idea of a sleeper sound too.

Perhaps it's not that bad but I just don't know since I've never heard it.

Any help out there?

I like it loud. Not trying to hide the fact that I am going to hand you your ass if you are worthy of racing.

Helical is the quieter of the gears. I bought mine with standard because I wanted the loudest whistle I could get. Love the sound of superchargers. Besides, the big 'ol intercooler peeking through the grille gives me away anyway.

Oh I'm down with that too. It's just I want to be in control of when that person knows.

Yea, I understand the helical gear is quieter. But it's not the WHISTLE that I'm worried about. My understanding is that both gear options have a whistle. What I am concerned about is the gear noise, specifically how it sounds at idle.

I just need to hear the idle. A lot of the videos I have found either have people talking or loud exhaust, background noise, etc.

The best description I can give is it sounds like a ball bearing moving around in the procharger without the helical gear. I guess u describe it well with marbles in a can. This is only at idle. If you don't want that get the helical gear.

Back on topic....

These guys (members here) posted a short video and you can kind of hear the head unit noise a little briefly on startup before he walks to the back for the exhaust at around 3:30.

Just wish he would've spent a few seconds at the hood to at least allow the RPMs to drop down to idle.

Can you hear it with the hood closed? How loud is it? Do people (non-enthusiasts) think it's odd?

Kind of subjective questions... which is why I'm searching for a vid.

You can definitely hear it with the hood closed. I've had more than one person ask me what's wrong with the car. Lol. Most people think it sounds bad ass but there are some that have no clue.

The issue is, I just don't know how loud it is. It's possible I could live with it.

Also, the other issue is that I've already purchased the unit. When I made the purchase, American Muscle didn't have the choice for choosing gears options and I subsequently forgot. Now I'm wondering if I should cancel before it arrives and order from another retailer.

Ita personal preference so I'm not sure how much the sound will bother you. It bothered me at first now I don't even think about it. It's something you just get used to. Now I actually like how it sounds. Also the sound has changed since I first installed the procharger. It was much louder when I first did the install.
