So I just noticed this tonight and it is outrageous! The gap to the hood and fender is not an issue with the hood closed, but open it up and I get to see this :frusty:

Anyone have any similar issues?

Car has 5K miles and is 3 months old.

Fender (plastic is the top of the headlight)

Hood (to the metal!!!!!):eyebulge:

Gap from hood to fender is even at 2.7-2.8mm on both sides

Please post a picture showing the gap when the hood is closed. I'm just curious, why the scratches on the fender are so deep when the hood should be flush with the fender.

So pretty much when the hood is closed you don't see anything what could cause the rubbing?
What I see and suspect from your pictures is that hood or fenders were misaligned from the factory, so dealer did fix the gap issues, but didn't fix the paint.

Mine was similar to this from the factory, even though the hood was not rubbing the fender, it was pretty close. I could tell the factory (or dealer) painted the hood, but not the fender. I took care of it with some touchup paint.

You may want to check the two rubber bumpers (one on each side) to see if they are actually making contact with the hood... This would keep the hood from moving while your driving, the movement could be causing the wear. If they are not making contact you should adjust them until they do... firmly.

Took it to a body shop as per the dealers recommendation.
They are filling a claim with Ford to get approval for the repair.

In terms of fixing it myself, I have no problem doing that if I didnt have paint damage. As a result I will have them fix it along with trunk alignment issues and, hood vent issue and rattles in the door/dash all at once.

Will update once I get a resolution response

Long Post/Rant

Dealership: Montrose Ford, Akron Ohio and the body shop is owed by the dealership and resides on the same property. http://www.montrosefordakron.com/Collision-Center.html . When I called the Mentrose Ford service department they transferred me directly to this body shop

The vehicle needs several body panels aligned, which to do properly will require repaint of at least a hood and fender along with interior rattles addresses.

The body shop is not willing to address some of the concerns, and I direct quote "Well its plastic and metal, you cant expect things to be perfect" and "to be honest if I was you I would not event worry about this stuff, as its more hassle to fix then what its worth". Overall was talked down to by the service writer at the body shop as the individual did not even have any compassion or willingness to address 1/2 the issues that I tried pointing out and seemed that I was an inconvenience for even bringing the car in.

In the images you can see how the hood and fender have been rubbing and as a result have caused exposure of raw metal! This is just one of the concerns that I have. How is this NOT an issue?

I also need a loaner vehicle provided to me when all this service is getting done as I have no other way of commuting. The body shop which is part of the dealership said that they are notable accommodate a rental, direct quote "as they are not affiliated with Ford and that Ford does not offer loaner vehicles for this type of service" which is completely outrageous given that they are ON the dealership property.

I have purchased several new vehicles in the past including a new Honda for the wife the weekend before buying the Mustang for myself. Overall I have never had body issues like this let alone trying to get a loaner car to address a warranty claim related issue that should have never existed. And the most outragious thing is that the Collision Center sits on the same property AND uses the same URL host website as the Ford dealership http://www.montrosefordakron.com/Collision-Center.html

Im now talking to Ford Service via PM and hope that they can address the issue for me with the dealership. Overall I rather go to a different body shop, and hope that Ford Service can accommodate that.
