We were coming back from St. Augustine, FL. First long drive since taking delivery 4 weeks ago. I drove all the way down and had driven about 100 miles back toward home. We decided to switch drivers and my wife got behind the wheel when we stopped for gas.
After we made it back into Georgia a ways, I asked how fast are you going......she looked down and said "95". I told her she needed to slow down a little and use the CC. She did slow down - for a moment...and no CC.
I went back to internet surfing while enjoying the ride. After a bit, she exclaimed: "Oh **ck! That was a cop." I asked where. She said, "under that bridge". She started slowing quickly. (My wife was taught to NEVER hit the brakes when you see a cop car.....she didn't.) I saw the cop pull into traffic, accelerate, move into our lane and get behind us, then BLUE lights!
We pulled over to the right. I grabbed her license and the insurance card. The cop walks up to my side of the car, away from traffic. It was a very young lady cop ( and VERY pretty too :-) ). She asks for the docs. She was smiling and looking into the car. She says, "2015? Wow. Nice car. These thing will really get away from you. Ma'am, did you know how fast you were going? I clocked you at 94, but you were slowing down. By the time you passed me your were doing 84. You slowed to 74 by the time I got behind you. Is there a reason you're in a hurry?"
My wife said, "No". The cop said, "You just looked down and saw how fast you had gotten then started slowing"? My wife said, "Yes".
Then the cop said, "I imagine the insurance is high enough on this as it is." The she smiled. "Ma'am, do you think you can keep it slower for me"? My wife said, "Yes". Cop says, "Y'all have a nice afternoon and be safe." She handed me the docs and went back to her patrol car.
Minutes later, my wife was back to about 85mph. She kept it like this all the way back to north Georgia.
Obviously the lady cop must have been a Mustang fan. I like to think she just wanted to take a look at the car.
;)
