Yes it was - in the bulletin that came out on the day pricing was released. At that time they had less than half the number of pre orders they ended up getting.

Not defending Ford Australia because my car is going to be delivered later than I was hoping, but just looking at it realistically.

What I was getting at above is that they never stated all cars would be delivered at once, nor did they promise specific cars at certain times - so if a dealer has promised that it's down to them for making promises without knowing they could keep them.

Exactly - IIRC the bulletins from Ford Oz to dealers contained stuff like:

"The Company expects that all eligible Priority orders will be fulfilled between Nov 2015 to Feb 2016"

My dealer used the word 'anticipated' in another email to priority orders.

Both those words are vague, I don't remember anybody pinky promising anything.

My view has two drivers for this situation:
- Ford AU moving from high volume discounting approach to niche market premium margin (no discounting) and lack of supply helps that aim Not suggesting price gouging as using US pricing configure online last night and using 0.77 aud/usd says pricing is comparable for my convertible GT

- Mustang is a success everywhere with sales high with large numbers of eager bever customers in AU that are frustrated by the delay, Ford AU probably underestimated demand in Aus also

Flat Rock has what, 800 cars per day on one shift so that does compound frustration as to why they can't start au build in Oct to start Nov deliveries, all AU is only 3.3 days production in 4 months after all???

In the end we will know when the cars arrive, no point having a coronary before hand and really missing out permanently!!!

I don't think it's people throwing toys out of the pram. I hate the fact that ford au have handled this so badly. If you don't have confirmed allocation do not suggest or anticipate or whatever stupid technicality that allows you to fail on such a scale and cover it up.

If there is a legitimate reason for the delay besides American demand then share it. If not learn from this colossal f up and don't do it again. Issue is I can see this happening with new ford cars as we play a distant 1000000 fiddle to American numbers.

One other point to consider is I dont think there has been an actual Mustang release/promotion to the general public. There has not been a big advertising campaign announcing the Mustang. All the demand so far is from us throwing our money at them ahead of production and availability.Ford USA has had a planned schedule for RHD,they just under estimated demand.

When the general public see mustangs on the road and then go to place an order with their Ford dealer, then realising the long wait, it has to be an easy way to make some extra $$....

The thought has absolutely crossed my mind. I did just that with the cla45 amg

There have been ads promoting the Mustang and I know of at least 1 dealer who has advertised they are selling them already

Hi YellowGT. I registered an interest on day 2 that the mustang was announced for Australia. I had to initiate contact with a dealer, and eventually paid a deposit on 3/9/14.

Well that sounds about right for my June delivery then.
The dealer did say that it might be a month or two early but I think fat chance of that!
Any more delay and I might as well wait for MY17!!!
