Hey guys & gals.

I took my sunglasses out today and all was well, but when I went to put it back I opened the door to the compartment and put them in but now it doesn't close.

I can push it in but it just springs out. I removed my glasses to make sure something wasn't getting caught, but still no luck.

Anyone heard of this? Quick fix perhaps? I hate to be without my car for a day getting a warranty claim on it but it's bugging the hell out of me now that I know it's open!

Thanks for any tips or advice. Much appreciated.

Look in the problem and issues category, another member had the same issue, not a widespread problem.....

Yup , that was me. Take it to the dealer that is the only way for them to fix it. Actually it is still broke and the part (they told me) was back ordered until this month. Had this problem for about months now. One time it started to work randomly, but then it broke again.

Same problem here. Car is only a month old. Hope it is not a sign of things to come. Not going to make a special appt. at the dealer to get it fixed. Just going to wait until my free oil change.

Haha not sure if you are serious or not but how secret can a marked compartment with a button be? :D

Some dealers proved free oil changes for life, or for the first year, etc

Just took mine in today (broke just using it like 3-5 times). They told me they found the latch that was a problem & fixed it. Good thing is that it costs nothing. Took them an hour.

Before taking it in, I took a look at what it was pressing up against to see if it was easily removable (it's not).

The piece I found was covered by the red boot you see on the top of the following pic:

Once you remove the boot, there is a plastic thing holding the spring mechanism part (you can feel around for it):

As I just touched around to see if there were any loose parts, this came out from the back:

It's super tiny, but it clearly shows a broken plastic part. Nothing else got loose or easily comes off from that section, though, so hopefully it was just installed as a safety measure for the spring & isn't really needed because whatever the dealer replaced (I don't know if they found a spare unit from another car or what), they didn't reuse that part that fell out.

This might just be the spring mechanism part & there is another part that latches onto the holder.
