Haha so far the two cars I've raced have been an auto C7 and a Hellcat Charger. Obviously, I won neither. But my car still feels fast to me! But I'm coming from mostly fairly slow BMWs and even owned an 04 Wrangler Rubicon LWB. Want to make your car seem like an absolute rocket? Drive a LWB 6cy Wrangler on the interstate. I would set the cruise control at 65mph and just stay in the right lane. The only other people I passed were other Wranglers lol. And the worst part about it is, I probably got 13mpg...on a good day. To me, that doesn't make any sense, and I sold it after 6 months. The women love them though, especially at the beach, but I've never been so bored driving. I take that back, I'm in a Jetta rental car for the next day.

It took me about 2,000 miles of driving. I used to be scared of the power but now I'm comfortable with the beast.

I had my '12(bone stock) for 3 years and I never felt like it was slow. I've had this one for 6 months and have had the blower on it for 4 and it doesn't feel slow either.
Don't get me wrong I always want more power, but i've never felt like my car was slow.

I thought I be happy with 550rwhp now I want 650-700. I'm sure I'll want a 1000 after that.

550/485 is about what I'm at now and I want 650-700. But to be fair I bought the blower knowing that I wanted to finish my build at 650-700 to the wheels. LT's and a pulley swap with tune and I'm done(mostly)
probably a couple other things in there too but you always find an excuse to add more HP...Asharus

that's what's great about the car industry. year after year they're making improvements. it's a pretty exciting time for auto enthusiasts. GM/Dodge/Ford and others going at it, battling for the top spot. looking forward to whatever comes next... as long as the CAFE regulations don't ruin everything.

i admit, i'm a little worried about the V8s eventually going away. i guess as long as the V6 ecoboosts are faster than the V8s, i'll be ok with it. i'll sure miss that exhaust note though.

This nostalgia is one of many reasons I bought my gt, I want to enjoy a new v8 coupe while they still exsist.
To answer the OP, I'm in that category of dailying a truck and a Honda fit, so the mustang always feels fast as hell when I drive it every week or two.

85% of the time I abide by the traffic laws and accelerate conservatively. So anytime I want or need some quick giddy-up I have it. Six months in, there hasn't been a day where a little punch hasn't given me a smile.

I don't think the V8s will go away any time soon. But... I see them becoming more and more exclusive.
I mean look at this Ecoboost motor I've got in here. Yeah, the power figures are respectable, but you have to ask why they didn't give us a smaller V8 option instead. Why not resurrect the 4.6 (which put out near-identical power figures), or even do what BMW did and make a small 4.0 V8. Hell, give us a detuned, cheaper 5.0L option, even, like they put in the F150. Mid-range Mustang buyers like myself would have definitely gone that route over the 2.3 Turbo, if it had been an option -- for exhaust note alone, and also so you didn't have to constantly defend the car from haters.
But CAFE standards, Emission standards and the fact that gas prices can spike pretty much any time mean that Ford has to sell a lot more efficient vehicles. The V8 will push higher and higher in price, forcing us regular folks into 4 cylinger turbos, NA V6s, or possibly at some future date, V6 turbos.
The consolation prize is that Ford has made the NA V6 a decent motor, since 2011, and the 2.3 Turbo is pretty powerful (even if it sounds like ass). But it still sucks that our options are limited. The first generation Mustang had a pile of engine options, including SEVERAL V8 motors to choose from at various price points. I wish that was still the case.
Don't be surprised if base model V8s go north of $40k sticker in a few years. Get them while you can afford them.
