Camaro interior vs Mustang interior

Hopefully the new Camaro interior will force Ford to finally ditch the remaining hard plastics in 17.

I second this. I was surprised that the S550 didn't do away with them. I bought into the whole "new and improved interior" shtick, but I didn't find that much of a difference compared to my '12 and '13 Mustangs. Even my Civic has soft-touch and nicer materials on the doors...LOL.

How soft was the plastic in the 2016 Camaro when you touched it? I'm still trying to gauge this new area of serious concern.

Haha, funny...

I'm just stating that there is no reason for my 2014 Civic to have more soft-touch than both of my previous Mustangs and the new S550.

You won't have an argument from me on the 5th generation Camaro...that interior sucked. Smelled like plastic, too. They had some nice touches with Alcantara and leather here and there (depending on model)...but for the most part, it was shite.

My only complain about the interior quality of the new mustang is the hard plastic center dash area and the machine turned aluminum looking dash. The idea is nice but execution is poor. The center dash hard plastic area and the aluminum piece rattles on every rough road. This seems to be common for the new mustangs.

The interior is also really temp sensitive. You take your car out for a drive in cold weather and the rattles will drive you insane, leave it outside in warm weather with sun shining on the interior trim, then the rattles magically go away.

I have the premium with premier trim mustang and my old ride was also a loaded 2ss/rs camaro but even though the camaro had cheap hard plastic every where it was sturdy and the rattles where minimum.Mustang on the other hand looks so premium and high quality but rattle friendly.

These cars are not cheap either 40 grand and higher, now you are in the luxury car price teritory. Wait till the new Ford GT comes out with $400,000 price tag and rattle crazy interior. Even if you complain the answer will be the same, it is a Ford what do you expect? Lol!

Not to mention the awful visibility. Plus, it's been a long time since I tried to sit back there, but I remember the backseat of the outgoing Camaro being damn near completely unusable. It's obviously not perfect in the Mustang, either, but it's not difficult to seat two reasonably-sized passengers (plus a Driver). And in a pinch, you can do four if one of the four is somewhat smaller than average, and/or the driver isn't too tall.

Surprisingly even with smaller side windows, the reviews are saying the visibility in the '16 Camaro is much improved.

My friend has an '11 Camaro and we have no issues sitting in the backseat of his car but the '15 Mustang back seat is just unusable for any adult even for short rides..you have to lean forward.

I wouldn't say "any" adult. I'm 5'11", and have sat back there. The ceiling is low, but not unusably so. It's fine for a 20-minute ride, though I wouldn't want to do it for a long road trip. People like 5'8"ish and below are fine in my experience.

The leg room was the main thing I remember being a problem in the Camaro, though... It was an '08 I think, so maybe they added some room? Although I did have someone who was like 6'3" sitting up front, heh.

As for the visibility thing, I certainly hope they've improved it, but I won't believe it until I sit in it and/or at least hear a lot more feedback.

The Mustang has a better interior easily.

From the seats to the center stack to the vents, to the steering wheel to the dash design (the 16 camaro dash looks borrowed from the 1971 barracuda), to the fact that a huge chick of the dash is freaking ALUMINUM, to the shifter, to the floor. And funny how Chevy just blatantly copied Fords MyColor for the interior lighting.

But I do like the door panels on the camaro better and the digital Gauge is an easy thing to compete with. At this point it's a simple matter of art direction.

The mustang looks like a talented designer built it. The camaro looks like someone took a 1970 muscle car interior and glued two iPads to it. Nothing wrong with that. But sheesh. They didn't even TRY to make them look integrated or look like they belong. It actually looks like s device just glued onto the dash.

Nice to see Chevy offer a two-tone red/black interior for the Camaro. Almost 10 years since Ford offered it in a Mustang, but at least they did it.

I think the E-Brake is coming to the Mustang in the next 2 years...at least for the autos. Dodge/Chevy have both adopted it already and it just cleans up the middle nicely...much more room.

As someone who works on/services his own vehicles, I hope an e-brake NEVER comes to the Mustang. I'd rather have a less-optimized center console than have to deal with changing out the brake pads on an e-brake car. I also wonder how an e-brake system would impact the line-lock/burnout feature of the new car? Again, something I would not want to give up for an e-brake system. Obviously, not something the Camaro has to be concerned with.

Electronic parking brake button. Challenger and Camaro now both have it.

You no longer have a pull mechanical brake in the middle. It's a button you push to engage the parking brake. See the button on the center with the ((P)).

That shifter looks beautiful look how short it is! Similar to the upcoming gt350 shifter. It also looks like shorter throw too, GM also provides Hurst short throw shifter as a $300 option which i had in my ls3 camaro. The options for the new camaro is over the top.

I m not going to lie.This interior will even leave the bmw m3/m4 owners jealous. GM really killed it this time. Bulls Eye!
