The title should be whats better and also has IRS.....auto is a durable beast if you have the manual you get more wheel hop, gear grinding, needs a clutch out of the box with 550+ rwhp.

^ This is true, however I see two track rentals a year and drive like an old lady on the street. I guess it is a tossup.

Why would you not need to upgrade the halfshafts with an auto? I imagine drag radials and burnouts in the burnout box are just as harsh with an auto vs stick.

I prefer a manual for mostly street use with a sprinkling of drag visits.

However, an Auto would be more cost effective. You wouldn't need to buy heavy duty halfshafts, a new shifter, or a new clutch which might need to be replaced sooner rather than later with a manual.

I would still upgrade if your going to be drag racing on sticky tires, even with the auto

how much rwhp can the factory driveshaft handle?
They can break with stock horsepower. It depends on how hard they are hit with sticky tires.

I was thinking more of for myself if I was going to only go to the track a few times a year with stock tires. In that case an Auto on street tires should last longer on the factory halfshafts than a manual.

However; I do agree that anyone with a sticky tire would need halfshafts upgraded before track duty.

Spending time in both extensively, the Auto is IMO better for daily driving. Whenever you want to play, you just hit the throttle, never have to worry what gear your in. And of course, burnouts are just so easy :)

The manual for a weekend warrior is great as to rip those gears but having driven manual for 10+ of my life, I'm over that so I went with the Auto. On the track, the paddles were extremely addicting.

I have an auto for the first time, and am planning a supercharger upgrade soon. Only thing that makes me jealous about a manual is how they can show off the engine sound at will and us auto guys, not so much. and we all know how good the 5.0 sounds. Only other car that I can think of that sounds as good is that lamborghini hurcan :)

What's bad about the Manuel?
Nothing bad, just prefrence. All the years of playing, I've missed shifts, actually lost a motor with a 3-2 shift once when I was 18, been in wrong gear for power curve... But I still love them. For a second car, I would have a manual but for daily driver, auto. But that's just me. Keep in mind I had manuals for about 12 straight years so the auto is so refreshing.

LOL...I'm going the reverse at 50yr old and having Autos the last 25+years, I am re-living the teens...However, as most have said the Auto is more consistent, I'm just loving the shifting again...maybe it will help keep my brain active as I start heading down the hill!
