Before spending 60-80K for a first year car, would be nice to know if anyone has or has heard insider info on any problems so far with GT350 performance.

There was a lot of talk early on they were having issues with engine vibration and such but I haven't seen anything new about issues lately.

Many years ago, when Nissan came out with their new engine for 350Z, I go to drive the first MY of that engine. Once you get to 5000 RPM, the engine would start vibrating and sounded horrible. By 6000 you would think this engine is about to fall off.
Although, year after year they tried to reduce it, but that engine was not a rev friendly car. I've seen BMW or Honda rev so smoothly that you just like to stay in high rev.

I really like to feel this car between 7000 to 8000 and see if it has noticeable vibration. That's my # 1 concern, engine vibration, which can eventually cause engine failure.

The only item I have heard through the Ford grapevine (so take it for what its worth) is that they have had to glue down some of the bolts to keep them from vibrating loose.

Of course that could be complete BS

I heard that a Magnaride dampening system was installed just under the driver's seat.

But, it could just be a rumor. ;-)

I have a 2003 350Z, and I will admit that with the windows rolled up the car is a bit coarse. If you roll the windows down, the noise is much better, so that's my solution.

I'm therefore OK with whatever the GT350 is like in terms of vibration. I just may need to keep the windows down!

Maybe they just used Loctite. I'm pretty sure I've seem various types of retaining compound used on some of the bolts on my Z and GTI.

That's also because even then the VQ engine was getting long in the tooth and being pushed into a displacement it wasn't designed for. The 370Z engine is similar and it revs out to 7500.

Hopefully Ford took all of this into account while on the drawing board instead of the production line :)

They supposedly created some beast of a damper to fix the problem.

Yes, it was the first generation of the VQ that had bad vibration and I got to test it. I think it was around MY 2000.
I remember I talked to my Asian top mechanic about it an he knew everything about that engine. He said, Nissan had come up with a new Crank design but the design is faulty, because it's not 100% balanced. And it throws things off in high RPM.

The Honda S2000 engine had one of the best almost like an F1 engine that could rev to 9000.

We may have to sit back for a year to see how this GT350 engine pans out.

You would think with the ?tens of thousands of miles in test drives something would have come out if there were problems. Although they probably are required to be tight-lipped, anyone know any of the Ford test drivers who could provide info?

I spoke with a guy that logged some miles on one. He said the early versions of the voodoo had vibration problems and caused bolts to loosen and things to rattle. No longer. This was during testing. The engine has logged many miles and there are no problems. Some people act like this is new technology or something. FPC have been around for a long time and are pretty reliable. The vibration problem was earlier in the testing phase. This was only because the 5.2 is a large engine to have a FPC. This style crank is just new to the mustang and Ford.

I have a question for anyone here......How much stiffer of a ride do you thing the GT350 (non R) will be in comparison to the 2015 Mustang GT PP? The reason I ask is I can not take the 911 GT3 RS ride or the 2015 Viper GTS ride? Please tell me it should be as compliant as the standard GT? Anyone? thanks
