Forgive me if I'm wrong but.. isn't the flowmaster outlaw the same as a resonator delete and muffler delete? From my research, it looks like the mufflers are a straight through.. and looks like it doesn't exist :/

The mufflers are from the axle back kit Flowmaster sells which are straight through. They are not a resonator delete. The resonator delete kit is the more expensive kit which is Catback. It replaces the resonator (which is in the middle of the car)with a Y pipe. A Resonator is to reduce resonance in the car(vibration or hum that you feel coming off the body of the car) that is produced by the exhaust. Mufflers just reduce the exhaust volume.

Thanks for the response. I understand what a resonator is and what it does. I was speaking of these flowmaster outlaw mufflers. From my understanding, although they provide a little bit of "muffling," they are essentially the same as having no mufflers, and having just a 2.5" diameter pipe there.

.. and in my opinion, the kit sounds the same as the other resonator+muffler (straight pipe) delete kits that many people have done to their cars.

I can understand where your coming from with that. The Sound clip may sound similar on a recording but not in person though, also the resonator will add a slight muffling to the exhaust. Some people like myself want as many restrictions out of the equation to produce the loudest sound.

In addition, a cut clamp kit makes installation harder because you have to do a hack job to install. Honestly the Catback kit is super easy to install, and would provide benefit of not voiding warranty if an issue were to arise. It's your decision. I almost went cut clamp myself to save money too

having the ecoboost engine open after i installed the Y pipe didnt sound half bad, i was surprised how tame the exhaust was, it was still loud, but being after the cat it wasnt ridiculous. Couldve easily driven around town with open Y pipe. But any time you have a exhaust dumped that that close to the engine, sounds kind of shitty to me. To muddy of a sound.

installed the catted turboback solo performance exhaust yesterday. sounds great. took about 4-5 hours with a lift. I could probably do it again in 2 hours now knowing how it all goes together. getting the tips centered is the hardest part. also, not installing the Y pipe upside down is key. haa.

Jeff from Solo offers great customer support. Also, product only took 2 days to get to me.

others have noted that the engine needs to adjust to the hi flow cat. so far the sound has been consistent for me. I was nervous about putting on an aftermarket exhaust because I didn't want it to sound like a civic or too obnoxious. Sounds great though. Like a European sports car. Deep bass when getting out of first. Quiet when cruising on the highway. Its definitely loud when you step on it. It will never sound like a v8 but sounds way better than the quiet stock exhaust. One thing I noticed though this morning is that at certain frequencies it makes my door panels rattle. I will need to secure the panels a little better.

I haven't heard any other aftermarket exhausts for the ecoboost to compare to this one but I am happy with this so far. Apparently it gets an even deeper sound after 300-500 miles. I will update when I get there.
