MPH/Redline info needed

Rear tire size for the PP is 275/40/19 which is 27.7" diameter. 7,000rpm redline.

1. 3.66 = 42mph
2. 2.43 = 64mph
3. 1.69 = 91mph
4. 1.32 = 117mph
5. 1.00 = 154mph
6. 0.65 = overdrive = 238mph

This just drives me insane! On paper with the stock tire size and gearing above chart should be valid, however in real life those valuse are not even close! We need to clarify this, first of Ford says the speed governor is set to 155 mph, second, the fuel cut off is not 7000 rpm exactly it is 6850 rpm, third, the second gear goes up to 59 mph not even 60 mph!

So either Ford forgot to calibrate the speedometer for GTPP cars or lowered the fuel cut off to around 6800 rpm without knowing! How can we clarify these things? We don't even have a digital speedo, and the speedo even reads different than cruise setting! Who and what to trust?

I created an Excel spreadsheet that calculates theoretical speeds for every transmission and axle combination at any given rpm and/or tire diameter.

This info should be as accurate as the data that you provide to it. Enter RPM and tire diameter into the green box at the upper right and it will display the speed for each gear and axle ratio combination.

Honestly at this point we need an accurate gps speedo reader and a go pro camera showing the rpm at the end of each gear fuel cut off point! If the recording shows the speeds to be off. The video should be sent to Ford, then a tsb for all GTPP's a recall for speedo or rpm calibaration!

Did a little test on the way home.
Accelerated in 2nd to the fuel cut-off point. It is below 7000rpm…..probably 6850 as stated.
My radar detector has a built -in GPS and MPH indicator. Although I won't try to test the accuracy in 4th, I will try it in 2nd and maybe 3rd.

It's been talked about a few times that the speedometer is off on the GT PP cars. Probably calibrated for 255/40-19 tires.

My radar detector has GPS speed on it. When the car says 78 the detector says 80. It's probably off 1.5 mph @ 80mph but neither the car nor the GPS show decimal points.

In my truck the digital speedometer and GPS on the detector read the same.

Ohh no way you will destroy the engine, infact, the car loves to rev all the way to the limiter and screams for more! I would if i had a gopro and a gps! I could have done for the first 3 gears! 4th gear, risky business above 100 mph lol!

ok. if fuel cut off is 6,850. in any gear, rev to 3,425. check your speed. now, double the speed for mph at fuel cut off.

no need to go out on a highway and do mach 6 with your head on fire.

also, no need to figure wheel diameters and such. pretty easy math.

I have the 2015 GT w/PP (3.73 final gear ratio).
I'd like to know how fast the car will go in 4th gear before there's fuel cutoff.

Magazines have tested the GT PP to 164 in a few reviews. I am not sure if that is the governor kicking in or the fact that is all it will run in 6th gear due to gearing/drag.

unfortunately tester cars are often configured differently. so you can't really rely on the 164 cut off unless it's been tested by an individual who just bought a car off the lot.

Manufacturers do a lot of things to their test fleets to make for better reviews.
