I just ordered my MGW shifter today and also want to upgrade my driveshaft at the same time. Tasca Ford has recommended Dynotech and I've heard Shaftmasters is another recommended manufacturer. Does anyone have any info that might help me make my decision. I can't say I know enough about one piece aluminum driveshafts to feel comfortable lol.

I have heard enough to not get Drive Shaft Shop. No offense to the guys who have and like them, I just have decided not to get theirs.

Thank for your help,

Jaime

I'm using Brenspeed for my upgrades and they have a good history with Dynotech. They drag race several cars and hit them pretty hard without a problem. I was looking DSS also but with the similar price and recommendation I'll go with Dynotech.

I called both companies yesterday and just got a better feeling from talking to the guy at Shaftmasters so I went with them. Apparently they are pretty similar. As a matter of fact both companies are really close to each other lol.

Shaftmasters even gave me a forum discount for 799 shipped. It's only $40 cheaper than Dynotech but hey...... It's $40 in my pocket.

Thanks for your input [emoji4]

Good price! I've heard positive comments on the Shaftmasters stuff as well. The only one that scares me are the random pictures of shredded carbon fiber shafts:eyebulge:

We have great success with Shaftmasters here at BMR. I think you made a solid choice!

Looking at doing the swap and I was told that a DS will add 14hp & 16tq.

I'm not a rookie at this game however this is the first of my 12 mustang's newer then 1996....I don't think it will add this much however I have to ask. How much HP will a one piece Drive shaft add?

Adds no power, but the lighter rotating mass should show up as some small increase in RWHP as long as the one piece is truly more efficient. 14 sounds a little high but the current two piece with a carrier bearing I'm sure is the site of some parasitic loss. From an engineering standpoint a way to relieve some NVH would be to allow some flexibility offered by the two piece stock system so if they build in some slop you can guarantee some loss through this portion of the drivetrain.

And I have to wonder how they arrive at those numbers. First, they should specify RWHP, secondly, I wish some of these companies would publish the process they used to arrive at these numbers. Reminds me of some other aftermarket vendors that claim HP gains. I'm sure some are legitimate but measuring RWHP is a crapshoot to say the least. Did they do 50 pulls on a chassis dyno with and without the part and report an average difference, or was it more simplistic as in fewer pulls and report the difference between the outliers of each? I would rather see HP numbers from engine parts that truly affect HP numbers and things like driveshafts advertise NVH numbers, weight reduction, balancing process, etc. which is why I'm buying them in the first place.

I don't think I will be dropping a charger on the car because I still have my foxbody to drag with, so I know I want be near the power to break it and I know on a fox the driveshaft was not adding no where near 14hp but had to ask because the advertised it and I called and they told me over the phone.

Yea. HP numbers are sexy and help sale the general public on product. NVH statistics and weight reduction means something to a guy like you who is drag racing and understands the importance of shaving weight or reducing drivetrain harmonics to preserve parts that are truly being consistently stressed. Truth in advertising is in the eye of the beholder.

I hear ya...I just dunno if $700 is worth the little weight reduction
