Seriously considering a Mustang. Two questions.

I've been lurking here for a while. Since I'm moving out of the city in two months it's time to take action toward buying a car. The Mustang seems like the clear choice for my driving needs. I'm 90% sure it will be an Ecoboost and 100% sure it will be a manual transmission. Regarding color, I'm torn between Oxford White and Deep Impact Blue. I'm also torn about the 50 year appearance package (as well as premium trim in general). I don't want the performance pack because I don't want summer rubber and I think I would actually prefer a more "accessible" performance envelope, if you know what I mean. So my two questions are...

1) I've looked at both Oxford White and Deep Impact Blue in pictures. It seems to me DIB shows the contours of the car a bit better, while I like the stark understatedness of OW. I haven't seen either color in the metal so I'm interested in input. Which looks better in real lighting conditions? Does my feeling that DIB shows the contours better translate to real life? Which one will look better after it's scratched and dirty?

2) I'm considering the 50 year appearance package and it seems to come with slightly wider wheels. I guess I feel I would slightly prefer narrower tires for a few reasons. Not least because it will be a bit easier for me to find the edge of the performance envelope, if I ever want to ;) but also I imagine narrow tires would produce less road noise and more efficiency. Not to mention it would be a bit easier to carry a full-size spare, which I fully intend to do. Can anyone comment on this? Are these considerations disconnected from reality? Any other comments regarding the 50 year trim are welcome.

honestly even if you are going to upgrade the PP items later on i still think its worth it. The upgraded brembo brakes alone makes it a steal.

I got the CO, but my 2nd choice color would've bean DIB if that counts anything.

Ecoboost PP brakes are Not Brembos.

Definitely DIB, white is almost like black where all the lines just disapear in bad lighting. With DIB, you get to see all the contours PLUS the dark color when clean, is similar to black where it becomes a very reflective mirror finish. Oh and get the PP for the black wheels. The gloss black finish will really compliment the DIB

I thought I hated the look but took a car from dealer stock with it. I'm totally in love with the details and the uniqueness it brings now that I own it. I plastidipped the inside of the faux gas cap which to me left just the right amount of chrome accents. Wheels are killer too...

I have DIB and LOVE It. In person it is amazing! Have seen a white one on the road with black accents and looked really good.

Personally I hate the 50th ap package. That grill is not my tea GT fangs are way better but on EB I guess I can see it. But it's your choice

Yes and no. This was discussed in another thread and I believe that the consensus was the base GT and PP ecoboost brakes were the same as the upgraded brembo brakes from the last generation, they are just not branded as such because they are now outsourced from brembo by ford but built to the same specs.

Please correct me if I am wrong but either way they are some seriously good street brakes.

The 2013-14s had Brembos

The EB PP are made by Ford

2015 PP are Brembos

Just because you copy specs and design doesn't change what they are. It's like guys with the 50th Ann pack cars telling someone it's a Limited Edition....it's not

My input for you is that color is subjective and to go to a dealer to look at the car in person. You have two things to observe: first, the color, and second, how it interacts with the 50th Appearance Package.

As far as which color looks best dirty, 'best' is subjective again but white would not show the dirt as much as DIB. However, gray or silver are also in that category.

Now, on whether to get the 50th Package or not, once the 2015's are gone it is gone. In other words, it may be a stretch but it does add a bit of uniqueness to the car. Tire noise isn't bad and I also have a sneaking suspicion no matter which package you get you will have a very hard time finding the 'limits' on public roads.

To a nice color but in some lighting it looks purple which I am not a fan of so that's why I went with Gray. If they offered Kona Blue I probably would've chosen that color or perhaps Ruby Red as that color looks great in person.

I thought I liked white or magnetic until I went and looked at the dealer. Now I am heavily leaning towards silver after seeing all the colors in person. You really need to go and look.

As inexpensive as the car is, pay the little extra for the PP. you get so much for the money.

Thank god I'm not crazy. I hate how often it looks purple to me

You need the performance pack it's well worth $2k. Not getting the 50th because it has wider tires doesn't make sense, they aren't so wide that they are going to increase road noise.

The 50th trim also looks amazing inside and I love the rear gas cap. The tail light trim also make the rear pop. I just sold the grill for $400 and got an offer for $400 for the rear gas cap but I declined

But if choosing one or the other get the performance pack for the rear gears, suspension and brakes

Your not going to notice any difference in road noise. on my GT whent from stock 18" 235 to 20" 305 and 255 front. No noise diff at all.
