Ruin the interior yet?

Last Thursday a mango yogurt-based drink tipped out of its cardboard takeout cupholder onto the front passenger floor (I don't put drinks on the seat). I didn't think it was too bad, maybe a few dribbles, as the lid had stayed on. Propped it back up and didn't give it much thought (though that was still a bummer :( ).

I got home and realized the seat had been covering up a lot more damage than I expected. I agonizingly waited for the seat to move all the way back and discovered I had lost quite a bit of the drink...it missed the floormat (of course), covered a 4" x 12" section of carpeting and puddled in the corner!

I soaked up as much of it as I could with both wet and dry paper towels, using my heel and cursing myself. Tomorrow after work I am getting this professionally removed!

The following morning I didn't really notice anything weird but by the time I got out of the office, it had reached 83 degrees in the car and there was a very faint sour smell. Fingers crossed the shampoo/wet vac job did the trick...haven't been in the car since I put it in the garage Friday night...
So much for prolonging the new car smell. :headbonk:

$25 Armor-all wet dry shop vac from walmart. I also have a leather side-less seat cover for the passenger seat because I take my german shepherd with me everywhere. I vacuum after every single time she gets in the car and the leather really makes it easy to pick up the hair. I also don't open the window if my dogs in the car or if there's hair i need to clean.
Also I bought the weather proof floors mats as a dealer option and those things make it sooo much easier to vaccum up crap.

We all want our new car to stay new as long as possible but the reality of it is it is a machine to use. I have never been one to cover my livingroom furniture in plastic to keep it 'new'; new for who? The next owner?

Yup, I know the opposing argument...I too know a guy who has a 1970 Mach 1 in the garage he has had since new and it is gorgeous. All 18,000 miles of it. The only people that enjoy it are the people that attend the shows he takes it to. Sorry, I am not that guy. Spill a Frosty on my floor and I will mop it up and be on my way!

My 944 doesn't have cup holders, period. Whenever someone wants to bring a beverage to my car, I say finish it before you get in, or throw it out. I don't care if they get brain freeze or burn their tongue.

I wondered if I had to worry about sweat smell on my cloth seats after working out. Where I live the gym is really close to my house. So far I don't think I smell anything.

Oh HELL naw! I went the better part of a decade without defacing my s2000 interior, I hope I can do the same with this beast.

With that being said, although there won't be any red flag situations allowed such as open coffee mugs or ice cream, I won't go overboard.

My dad and I just drove it up to the snow last week, got out, walked down a forest service road, and got back in and drove home. Mats can be replaced.

So far, I have a pretty big spot in the front driver's seat where I dropped a sandwich I was eating between my legs while I was driving, and mayonnaise got on the seat... it's really difficult to get it out of the perforations in the leather, and so far I haven't bothered.

Also, the leather boot around the handbrake is an absolute MAGNET for crumbs; I pulled the handbrake this morning and there was a veritable mountain of sandwich crumbs and whatnot stuck in the leather in front of the brake and also between the brake and the center console. Did my best to wipe it out with a napkin; no big.
